Ricky Hatton & Southpaws ???
Given Hattons previous track recod against Southpaws... Do you guys think it is possible Mayweather will spend substantial periods of the bout fightng out of a Southpaw Stance?
I know Magee & Collazo were of that Slick yet uncompramising mould while Urango was just plain immovable but Hatton is always a sucker for a right-hook in exchanges.
I wouldn't be suprised if Mayweather starts the bout southpaw. I think up-close, Mayweather could better utilise his hook & uppercuts from that Southpaw stance.
Have a think ;)

No Mayweather doesn't fight southpaw for long periods of time. And i doubt Mayweather will use it at all because if he switched from Southpaw to right handed. He could very well be caught on the counter its not good to switch hit against pressure fighter like Hatton.
Re: Ricky Hatton & Southpaws ???
Mayweather only fights southpaws when rotating anti-clockwise.
You see when he rotates clockise he shifts his rear foot only, rotating his entire body, the opposite is necessary when going anti-clockwise so he switches southpaw so his rear foot is his left....
So no i don't realistically see Floyd altering a style which has worked for him so well in the past.

Damn. I never noticed that :P
Shame really becuase like i say, if Haton were to pin Mayweather down, i feel Mayweather would have a better chance fighting left-handed.
But if what you say is indeed accurate, then there'd be no point to it :)

Well it's a pretty common thing Cotto does it too as did Mosely frequently enough when put under pressure.
The oly problem with Southpaw for Floyd is that when Floyd defends his defence is directed right.
When floyd sees a jab coming he gets that paw up and turns right. When he sees a cross/hook coming he slips down right...
(see Shane Mosely's analysis in DLH/MAY 24/7 actually.)....
If he turned southpaw he'd be in reverse and i dunno if he can operate as well you know? Makes him vulnearable to Ricky's hook
Re: Ricky Hatton & Southpaws ???
Mayweather wont have time to think about switching...if he does he'll just confuse himself!!
Tc
Re: Ricky Hatton & Southpaws ???
Long as Ricky stick's orthodox and lands i'm happy!!!
