Why is Floyd and Hatton the only topic of conversation?
Come on guys, there are LOADS of fights this weekend and on paper some equally good matchups.
Jeff Lacy against Peter Manfredo is a great fight imo, can't wait to see this one. Although most think Peter's in over his head I actually think he has at least as good a shot of beating Lacy as Hatton does of beating Floyd and their styles should combine to make a great fight.
We've also got the ultra active Ponce De Leon who seems to fight every month in with an little known guy but who has a record as a puncher himself.
In the UK we've got a classic matchup with Amir Khan and Graham Earl, a fight that is my tip for fight of the night, really great matchup in my mind.
We've also got another Brit challenging for a world title in Wayne Elcock when he travels to face Arthur Abraham. I'm looking forward to seeing what Mortal Combat death move execution King Arthur delivers this time!
Danny Williams has heaved his fat ass to Switzerland, a betting underdog against a big KO specialst in Victor Platov. Williams is the most frustrating of all fighters and you just never know how he's going to perform. He's always good value as you just never know what's going to happen.
We've also got a nice step up in class fight for John Duddy as he takes on former world rated Howard Eastman in what on paper looks to be his toughest challenge so far.
All in all we've got a great lineup this weekend, enough to keep me entertained all day Sunday.
I can't wait, It's such a stacked weekend with some real competitive matchups. :)

Because none of that matters. This is the second because profit fight of the year and perhaps the biggest fight in terms of overall skill, definitely in importance of the year/last few years. This is for #1 p4p, welterweight championship, and so much more. Lacy and Manfredo good fight or not(which is what I think it will be once Manfredo tastes Lacy's left hook) doesn't mean anything in terms of the belt contention, at least not to me. Ponce De Leon is fun, but how long will his fight last, what is there to talk about?

All boxing matters to me, honestly this forum is starting to look like the papers when Diana died, it's like the only story in the world.
Once it's over in a less than 24 hours time everyone will be looking to the next fight and this 'biggest fight ever' will go the way of Floyd and Oscar and be forgotten by the new year ::**
Re: Why is Floyd and Hatton the only topic of conversation?
Too many reasons why Hatton/Floyd is the hottest topic on any boxing forum. The fact that Poser Boy Floyd came out of retirement was huge. The fact that he has not mentioned retirement again is also huge. As long as Floyd stays active, he will be the hot topic wether it's positive or negative feedback from fight fans.
Don't get me wrong, I am still gonna catch the other fights mentioned Duddy, Ponce and what ever other fights I can catch. Still Hatton/Mayweather Jr., is the fight everyone is most interested in and who can blame us for being so excited? No one!
Re: Why is Floyd and Hatton the only topic of conversation?
the word GREAT should never be within a million miles of anything to do with Peter Manfredo ,

I agree with you Bilbo,I'm quite looking forward to the Ponce fight v a guy who was trained and maybe still is(Im not sure) by Nacho Beristein. Lacy's comeback fight v Manfredo is a make or break for either fighter,I mean if neither looks good,it won't bode well for future successes. The Khan fight is intriguing too and being a fan of all boxing,it looks like a great weekend!

:coolclick: Gamo, I knew you'd be one to appreciate the merit's of all the fights taking place tonight.
It seems to me that Lacy vs Manfredo is a great matchup, even if its not close yet nobody is talking about it.
Come on who would have thought a couple years ago when Manfredo was pencilled in to fight Scott Pemberton (and we laughed saying how he was going to get killed!) that he would fight the two most dangerous super middleweights on the planet at that time in back to back fights AND on the undercard to one of the biggest fights in recent boxing history!
Re: Why is Floyd and Hatton the only topic of conversation?
I would start a thread on the Duddy fight but I'm tired of hearing the same ole crap about Duddy. People will just write him off like they always do and piss me off, so I'm just gonna watch the fight and gloat after the fact. :P
