Oscar the consumate politician has check mate Mayweather

Oscar will steal Mayweather's 2008 showdown with Cotto by slating himself to fight Cotto. Oscar will then win this fight and much to the ire of boxing fans, we will see ODH vs Mayweather 2 in October of 2008.

The only way Mayweather can head this off and save 2008 for full money is by fighting Cotto first then rematching with ODH.

If Mayweather lets ODH gets first jump, ODH will get a big payday vs Cotto and a big pay day in the Mayweather rematch. ODH stands to come away with $60 million for 2008 alone, whereas Floyd will likely get a measly $20 mill for only one major fight.

Mayweather can maybe pick up some loose change fighting Margarito or Vivian Harris before a pay per view in the fall.

Vivian Harris?? He wouldn't get a job as a sparring partner! You are right that DLH has no option other to chase Cotto before PBF does, i see Cotto beating DLH and then losing to PBF in 2008.

Oscar will KO/TKO Hatton, but I think Oscar would lose to Cotto.

Cotto would destroy ODH, especially considering how hard it would be for Oscar to get down to 147. I think SweetPea is right, Hatton will fight ODH. Ever since Cotto beat Mosley, Mayweather - Cotto is the fight I most want to see.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Mayweather-ODH II next. It's obviously a much bigger money-maker than any other fight in the sport, and, thanks to horrendous judging in the first fight, some people actually believe that the fight was close or the decision was controversial. I agree that I'd rather see Mayweather-Cotto, but ODH 2 stands to bring Mayweather 2-3x the money, so it'd be hard to blame him for taking another easy night against Oscar.

Yep! Oscar made so much in their fight and still Floyd was talking about having all this money which only makes him look silly. He talks about being the boxer that has made the most money in boxing, uuuuuuuuuh, no.

I understand where your coming from but I don't think this is happening. ODLH wants to fight in May on Cinco De Mayo and in September but Cotto is pretty much booked for the Puerto Rican Day parade in New York in June. With Arum not wanting to risk his meal ticket against ODLH and then also have to split profits with Golden Boy Promotions, I can really see Cotto never fighting ODLH. I think that Cotto is on the way to fighting a tuneup in February against a fringe contender or sitting out and then fighting Margarito next June.

I really think that Oscar will either fight Zab Judah, Kermit Cintron, or Shane Mosley III in May. I know Oscar and Shane said they will never fight each other again, but these guys are trying to break the bank one last time, so I could see it happening since Shane can't really make any money by himself. I could also see Oscar fighting Hatton too even though he got knocked out. In September, I could see Oscar fighting Margarito (even though he's with Top Rank, Arum wont care because Tony's not undefeated) if Margarito beats Cotto or a PBF rematch.

I think many people are over estimating the impact a PBF-DLH rematch would have. Everyone agrees that the fight was a big disapointment and it really makes no sense now that DLH has no title and has won one fight in over 3 years.

This fight will not make nearly as much money if it happends again now and I think if both guys are smart they understand this.

DLH will most likely fight Hatton if he can make 147 and if Hatton wants it after last saturday.

Cotto is fighting a mandatory then he will eather unify or fight Margarito. Like the true champion he is, he will face anyone who is considered a threat. Cotto should know by now that he does not need Mayweather. He should just keep fighting the top dogs at that weight till there is no one left and Mayweather will have no choice but look for him.

BTW Cotto would beat DLH silly right now.

Little bit much there... DLH isn't some corpse who's can still sell tickets... He's a top fighter even at his age. I don't agree that Cotto is a straight ahead brawler either, but he's a lot more mechanical than Mayweather that's for sure, and he would have to really be wary of Oscar's jab and left hook. I wouldn't have Cotto a big favourite by any means.

Basically because ODLH took Mayweather to an SD in May. Finished fighters don't come that close against Mayweather.
