Yea fighting Oscar De La Hoya at 154 after only three fights at 147 is not a risk ::**, and he was 13 pounds lighter on fight night. Yea your spot on ::**
First off all...Oscar was past his prime when he fought Floyd. Secondly...he had been inactive for some time (especially against top level opposition). Secondly...Oscar is not particularly big for 154. I'll still give some credit for the marginal risk Floyd took. But it wasn't a huge risk...Floyd fought someone on the downside of their career. He obviously would not dare step in a ring with a huge fighter/puncher way past his weight class.
No first of all Oscar De La Hoya was the damn champion (Lineal) at 154 and just came off a demolition of Ricardo Mayorga so I doubt very seriously that he was past it. Second off on the night of the fight De La Hoya was 34 and Mayweather was 30 which is not a huge difference in age at all so I don't understand anything your saying. Third off someone on the downside of his career is not the best damn fighter in the division, Oscar was until Floyd moved up. Fourth off you predicted De La Hoya to win the fight, just dig up your own post it's there. If you thought he was passed it you would have not done that, it just so happens Floyd made him look past it.
This is what you wrote in Wacko's Drunkun thread
For me the most intriguing part of this fight will be how Floyd handles 154 pounds. I feel like his power and frame was already being stretched at 147. Oscar has a great chin and is an accurate/strong puncher. Can Floyd keep him off for the entire fight with just his defense and speed...because i certainly don't think he will keep Oscar off with his power. If Oscar comes into this match, and it seems like he will, in great shape...i just feel at some point Floyd will get caught. How he will handle Oscar's power is a big question. Remember...Oscar isn't just some wild punching stiff...the man, even at this stage of his career, is a tremendously skilled fighter. Add to that...Oscar has been involved in these mega fights before...and i think he certainly has more than just a punchers chance. When this fight was first announced...i was thinking Floyd would dance to UD. But i just have this feeling Oscar may surprise many of us.

Well said Manny.
I too feel like Floyd is taking a risk. Mayweather is banking on the hope that Oscar doesn't have much left in the tank and that his conditioning and age will be his greatest weakness. And he could be right to think that. BUT...if Oscar shows up sharp, fit, and shows he has one last great fight left in him...Floyd could be in serious danger....his ego having gotten the best of him. I already felt Floyd's frame and power was being stretched at 147...now he is jumping to 154. I guess that's one of the intriguing aspects of this fight
