WHICH FIGHTERS HAVE BEEN GRACIOUS IN DEFEAT AND WHAT WAS SAID?
Last shit i'm writing before I fall asleep on my keyboatrd :)
Who has been gracious in defeat that you can think of and what was said?
I'm thinking Prince Naseem vs Barerra.
Said his training camp went perfectly and that he has no excuses. If he couldn't beat Barerra that night then there was something wrong. Retired shortly afterwards.
True class coming from a guy who was known as an arrogant prick.
Who else?
Goodnight fella's! O0
Re: WHICH FIGHTERS HAVE BEEN GRACIOUS IN DEFEAT AND WHAT WAS SAID?
Holyfield against Bowe first time around.
Koysta against Hatton.
Julio Ceazer Chavez against Franky Randel NOT.
Re: WHICH FIGHTERS HAVE BEEN GRACIOUS IN DEFEAT AND WHAT WAS SAID?
Yea Kostya was total class in defeat.
Re: WHICH FIGHTERS HAVE BEEN GRACIOUS IN DEFEAT AND WHAT WAS SAID?
It's nearly always the guys you'd least expect.
Mike Tyson was always a perfect gentlemen in defeat admitting guys like Douglas and Lewis whupped his butt and praising them for their performances. Very unpredictable bloke was Mike.
Kosta took defeat very well........until he got back to Oz and then blamed it all on the low blow.
Holyfield probably takes defeat better than anyone though. As long as he shows 'improvment and adjustment' he's perfectly happy to lose and carry on plugging away. Nothing fazes the man.
Finally I presume Reggie Strickland is fine with losing else he'd have all the bitterness in the world on his shoulders.

I have to go with the arrogant Tarver after losing to the arrogant Hopkins. RJJ had his LOSING WEIGHT EXCUSE after losing to Tarver, but when Tarver lost to Hopkins he said that he felt great in training all the way up to the fight and he had no excuses

To be fair though if Tarver would have blamed the weight he would have basically been admitting that that was the only reason he beat Jones Jr in the first place.
It wouldn't have been quite true as he beat Jones twice (three times in my opinion) and the weight excuse doesn't hold on all three fights but that is what everyone would have said.
I actually feel sorry for Tarver. It's embarrassing watching him fight these days the way the crowd boo him. It's like he's a convicted sex offender or something, it has to affect him.
I actually quite like Tarver really, an ex drug addict who turned his life around.

He was also very humble in defeat against Holyfield the first time, which made the craziness of the 2nd fight that much weirder.

Maybe until he looked at the tape and realised he had been had. Seriously, would have been a different result if Cortez was refereeing IMO ;)
Re: WHICH FIGHTERS HAVE BEEN GRACIOUS IN DEFEAT AND WHAT WAS SAID?
The best was Foreman after his fight with Shannon Briggs.
Foreman CLEARLY won the fight and got robbed in one of the worst decisions i've ever seen, but was classy after the fight, saying "Shannon Briggs won this boxing match" and "Shannon lost his mother recently, I hope this win can do good things for him". The interviewer knew it was a terrible decision and tried desperatly to get Foreman to say it was a bullshit decision, but Foreman kept saying "Nahhh, I'm not going to whine and cry about a boxing match, I'm just going to look to the future."
Diego after his second fight with Castillo was a good one too. He made no excuses, and even when the interviewer tried to get him to say that the not making weight affected him he said "no I'm not going to say that, or anything else that might take away from Castillo's victory."
Both showed pure class and made me even bigger fans of both.

I remember Kessler seemed very gracious in defeat. I don't rmemember exactly what was said because it was so long ago ::** ..... ;D
Seriously, he was very complimentary of Calzaghe and didn't attempt to make any excuses. Very classy.
