Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
on another site
So I guess this is assuming he beats JMM ??? David Diaz at 135 in Macau in July, then Ricky Hatton in Dubai in November. Why the foreign locations, I don't know, except that Arum says something about a friend opening up a big casino there and wanting to open it up with a huge fight.
I wish the David was replaced with Juan but I don't know, thoughts?
Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
Interesting fight for sure. I personally don't think he'll beat JMM. And yes, I'd rather see Pac fight Juan than David. Actually I want Juan to fight David and then go fight Pacman. I think Juan beats Hatton, Pac, and definately David.
Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
I still haven't made a pick, I think Pac has improved more, he was pretty much just a jab-left hand fighter in that fight and he's added a better right hook. He was really basic in that fight, even compared to the Barrera fight where he used the right hand, went to the body. Maybe the first round played into it, when he had so much success with the left hand.
And JMM's easier to hit now, although better offensively. He was really getting hit by some left hands against Terdsak, made me think about a Pac fight.
Might be leaning towards Pac actually, gonna rewatch some of their fights before the rematch.
I would rather he just stick at lightweight and fight Juan Diaz but the risk/reward, mainly the risk, in that one is a bitch. Hatton is a bigger money fight so I'm not in the least surprised by Arum wanting that fight more.
Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
Pac would be an absolute LEGEND if he moved to 140 and beat Hatton. Cant see it happening tho. I think Ricky Bullys him around the ring and stops him.

Man if Pac{who is great, no doubt} moved up and beat Hatton, THAT would ruin Ricky mentally. He would retire after that. Would be a frenzied fight, but I still as of now would have to pick Hatton to win.
Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
Loving PAC he's a crazy Fuck. Love the heart even at his top status he is willing to Fight anyones even if the are much bigger than him.
he is may P4P as it is
Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
This figtht sounds crazy, but at least all those talks of pac ducking so and so is put to rest.

Hate to say this but I think so too. :-\ Going up two weight class in just few months is just too much, considering that he started out as a flyweight.
As for the fight, I think pac should fight him just a he fought Marco in the rematch but be more aggressive whenever he sees the chance. Being a bully - a real tough one no doubt - Hatton would be wide open for good countering. The best way I think is for pac to engage in an counter-retreat offense whenever Hatton attacks. He has no need to initiate the offense as Hatton would be coming at his platter, so to speak, and all he needs to do is to pound him hard and then retreat every time Hatton charges in and try to frustrate him. Pac should go for an all out attack only when he thinks he got him, but at the same time be ready to retreat again when it fails. I think combination of good countering and smart offense is the key for pac to win. I really doubt pac can knock Hatton out, but again, I hate to admit - Hatton can. :'( But to give credit to my boy, at least he showed a refreshingly new style in the Barrera rematch - he outboxed and totally dominated Marco more than Marquez did, I think punch-stat should bear that out. If you guys have any doubt watch it again. He didn't just counter there. He initiated the attack and waited for Marco to counter and stepped back a bit just enough to evade it and then countered aggressively - as strange as it may sound, he countered the counter. His quick feet played an important role there. Marco fell into his trap most of that fight. What he did with Juarez, he couldn't do with pac because of his speed - both in hands and feet. With Hatton, I think he shouldn't initiate the offense though, but just wait for him to come in. Sounds more easy than done...
...If you ask me, I'd rather him clean up the super-featherweight division and retire.

Exactly. Would be a lose/lose situation for Ricky, if he doesn't blow him away.
Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
i believe marquez beats him.
and pac fighting hatton ??? haha hatton wins
Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
Well, Well, Well.
Wow is all I can say.
Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
Hatton will beat Pacquiao and stop him in 10, you got to admire Hatton fighting P4P number 1 then fighting P4P number 2 i don't think i've ever seen a boxer fight P4P number 1 and 2 so quickly.

Actually it's win win for Ricky. If he beats Manny then his fans will say he's the best British fighter ever and if he loses they will say it doesn't matter because Manny is a southpaw and Ricky never does well against southpaws, as if that makes it perfectly ok to lose with no loss of status whatsoever. ::**
Oh and they'll probably invent a new excuse and say Ricky has never done well against smaller guys or guys from Asia with big calves.
Trust me Ricky has nothing to lose, certainly not pride, that all went with a check hook last weekend. ;D
Re: Arum: "Pacquaio-Hatton in November 2008"
Althought I'm not as harsh as Bil,I see it as having a "win" side to it for Hatton, namely the $$$. The fight would be mega hyped! I'd think Htton at 140 would destroy Manny though, way too big and strong.
