Re: Khan: Where's Thaxton?
Con is to skilled for Thaxton. Con needs to get off the domestic scene and fight some real contenders

Exactly, Yuri Romanov would be a good step up and get him the EBU belt

He should take a look around and see about getting getting an intercontinental or international belt from one of the major organisations
Re: Khan: Where's Thaxton?

He'll surely be a step up from the walking corpse that was Earl
Re: Khan: Where's Thaxton?
Theres loads of Lightweight's that he could fight.
Miguel Angel Huerta
Almazbek Raiymkulov
Edner Cherry
Yuri Romanov
Etc,
If he does fight Thaxton next and wins, then its seriously about time to step it up and forget domestic level.
Re: Khan: Where's Thaxton?
Thaxton would be the ideal next fight for him, and it would be a picke em imo
Khan's defence worries me

Re: Khan: Where's Thaxton?
amir has just turned 21 for christs sake, and had what 15 pro fights, cant think of to many guys in boxing that are his age and at his advanced stage already in his carrer... i can remember a huge number of people on thius forum saying Earl would KO him!!!
He should fight thaxton next as its the next logical step in his carrer, by the end of 2008 i predict you will see Kahn winning a world title!

When your as hyped as Con has been (and he's been hyped) your expected to move at an accelerated pace
Re: Khan: Where's Thaxton?
yeh like i said cant think of to many you just named 2, point proven!
mate i agree he has been hyped up, and its asking for a downfall but he hasnt really done too much wrong...
wouldnt you give him a chance then against any of the world operators at Lightweight then??

I know that Khan's been hyped up a lot in the UK, but beating Thaxton then three defences to make the Lonsdale belt his for keeps would let him really settle into the weight, before going on to better things. Maybe throw in a few European contenders in there to boost his rating. I know people want to see him step up, but they're also people who often want to see him fail. Keep bringing him on gradually would be my move...Euro level in a year or so. World level in two or three if all goes to plan. None of this big talk about winning a world title next year or anything.
Re: Khan: Where's Thaxton?
Would never ever happen but Khan-Anthony Peterson would be interesting. Neither's really stepped up, the two best prospects at 135 probably.
Khan could fight somebody like Fransisco Lorenzo, no power but kind of akward to deal with.
