Re: Prime Bruno - Prime Bowe
Frank does alright early in the fight and then gets clubbed to defeat in the second half
End analysis ;D
Re: Prime Bruno - Prime Bowe
This would have been good i would go with Bruno early stoppage or Bowe late stoppage.
Re: Prime Bruno - Prime Bowe
IMO the first half is a slugfeast...with Bruno getting the best of it....Bruno tires and stays on the defensive for the last 4 rds...Bowe UD

No way would Bruno stop Bowe, Bowe had one of the best chins in Modern day Heavyweight history. Bruno would give Bowe few problems with his left jab but after about 6th round, Bowe would catch Bruno with over hand right Bruno is then stunned on the ropes and Bowe lands vicious 4 punch combo followed by uppercut and the ref steps in and Bowe wins in the 7th.
Re: Prime Bruno - Prime Bowe
It would be a good fight.Until Bowe landed his crashing right hand.

Bruno would never ever last the distance with Bowe, he only went 12 rounds once with uninterested Oliver McCall and he looked like he was going to pass out after 9th round.

40 wins 38 ko's 33 of them inside 5 rounds thats why i said Bruno's chance of winning would be early and Bowes late if i had to pick i would say Bowe late about round 8 lets not forget Bruno had good punch power. And how many fighters with great chins have been ko'd

Bruno never knocked out elite fighter, his power slightly fell short against elite opponent's.
Re: Prime Bruno - Prime Bowe
IMO, Bowes vastly overrated as a Heavyweight.
Did he show skills?
Yes,
Did he show determination?
In the ring Yes outside the ring No,
All in all aside from Holy theres nothing much there as far as World Class. I mean a few good prominent names there but IMO Bowes not Hall of Fame. He had the tools but bad management & poor ethics outside of the ring was his dismissal.

I don't think he is overrated, no one rates Bowe high in all time Heavyweight rankings. But at his best he would give any Heavyweight in history tough fight. Although Bowe had bad weakness to outside fighters, look at Tony Tubbs who was on down slide of his career, out boxed Bowe totally but Bowe got gift decision. And Holyfield also out boxed Bowe in there 2nd fight by using movement and boxing Bowe on the outside.

I agree, slightly. Bowe was a little overrated. But he was still much better than the chin less, huffing and puffing after 6 rounds Frank Bruno.
Re: Prime Bruno - Prime Bowe
Riddick Bowe would never have fought Bruno because Bowe never fought anyone who could punch.
Hide and Gonzalez are the only two and Gonzalez wasn't that big a puncher.
A fighter that spent his whole career not facing punchers does so for a reason - his management no he can't take a punch.

And that's what I mean you say "But at his best he would give any Heavyweight in history tough fight" I disagree with that cause to say that would mean you rate him highly enough to match him up with the best.
I always read things like Bowe was a beast, Bowe was something special and for some reason here when they've made hypothetical matchups against the likes of Tyson, Foreman, Lennox theres been people who have said Bowe would beat them. (Prime for Prime) If you can actually determine when Bowes prime started and when it ended. ::**
I would assume 1992-93 so his prime lasted about a year or so?
I just feel Bowe get's a little too much credit and praise for the Holy fights. Great fights yes, Holy great yes. Bowe at his best in my books was a really good Heavy and that's about where it ends for me.

Right on Welsh, to me Bowes nothing special.
The Holy fights were special but Bowe as Heavy compared amongst the rest falls waaay short.
Re: Prime Bruno - Prime Bowe
True Mick and I have to give him credit for the trilogy with Evander - great fights, though it is the only time I will give the man credit as he is one of my least favourite fighters of alltime. :)
