Great choice mate I went to NY for 5 nights last July and by chance we were there for the 4th and the massive Macy's firework display which was great. Great city, great food and great people although it is pretty crowded.

I was in the states before, but most of my time was spent in Florida and California, I spent only a day in New york between flights and it was humbling. The sheer size of the small part of the city I saw was amazing.

Maybe it's cause I am always in New York City that i don't understand it's appeal.. there are a lot of cool things to do, and makes an entertaining day, but i'd prefer (if i had to choose a city to visit) it would be somewhere in Italy most likely.. probably Venice or Rome.. completely different culture and great historical art.

Been to both of them bro, Venice this year and Rome last year and they were both faboulous.
Rome was great we visited the Vatican and the Colleseum and it was extroadinary the tour of the Colleseum with all the history etc.
Venice was again fantastic with all the canals etc you know the taxis in Venice are Water taxis, yes a boat, you go everywhere by boat and even our suitcases to the airport made the trip by boat lol we took a picture of our suitcase loaded on the boat. I will have to post the picture up sometime. One thing about Venice is it was swarming with Americans, they were everywhere because as you said the history. And of course the usual chinese people were there, but you have to visit one of them they're cool (Especially if you enjoy pizzas, they make the best pizzas in the world as it is the home of pizzas Italy)

I'd most like to see the U.K. and the northern European countries like Germany, Norway, Denmark etc. I'd also love to go to Poland and other eastern European countries. I'm from Canada, but my heritage (for lack of a better word) is English, Irish, Scottish, and German; so that probably explains why I want to go there so badly. Ireland and Scotland would be my first choices.

For me, I would love to see England and Ireland
Cities, Beijing, Rome, London, and New York...(I've been to NYC but I want to go back, so much to do and the food...to die for)

I've never really seen Ireland's appeal as a tourist attraction. Sure a lot of history, but all of it revolves around wars and oppression!!!!
