A few things I think this forums needs
I think that there is a great community going here to help people interested in/just starting boxing, there are a few things I've noticed that could improve it. Firstly the street fight threads need to stop (I'm aware theres a thread about this so I won't go any further ;))
But what I've noticed recently is that alot of relativley easy problems/questions seem to go unanswered because the poster isn't really sure what there asking for, usually along the lines of
'Hi want to get faster/ stronger/ bigger / heavier / better at doing this or that'. Its fine to ask for advice on something like this (I'm pretty sure thats what these forums are for) but with out the poster being more specific its quiet hard for us to help (how many answers can you give to a question like 'how can I get faster' with out information like their age/weight/height/expereince/body fat etc? a few to many :p...).
Basicly what I'm saying is we need some guidelines for new/inexperienced posters to stick to whever possible and reminder for them to think their questions through before posting them.
This may have already been rasied else were, so sad click and flame away if it has :)
Re: A few things I think this forums needs
It gets mentioned alot actually.
Speaking for myslef ,I dont read half the posts due to time , a slow server and interest too;
I only go for the posts that I think has tactical moves involved or training ideas, Im not into the rest.
Changes are in the air though as we speak.
People really need to read through the threads beofre posting and it will be made easier soon with them split into more categories.
Re: A few things I think this forums needs
But as nouk said in that thread about stopping streetfight threads, why shouldnt we help if it could save someone from getting badly beaten or being absolutely humiliated.
Re: A few things I think this forums needs
I reckon you could help him/her Snakey, offer them advice on training/workouts only if the guy doesn't start off his post with "I need to get big in 2 weeks and kick this other guys ass". Most contact sports such as Karate and Kick Boxing can be used as self defence along with actually competing in tournaments (I'm sure some people use boxing training soley as self defense)
If the poster really wants to listen to you and train in a gym then you have done him a big favour, he will get fit, learn some new skills and may even deter the bullies from ever touching him. If the worst comes to the worst at least he will be prepared and be thankfull that there was someone out there that offered him advice.

I would be happy to give advice to ppl about street fights as long as it doesnt start as " This guy fucked my girl" or "I hate this kid at school, how can i bash him".

Because that is NOT what this forum if about. If I see those threads in the training forum I'm deleting them.
Adam is right many simple questions could an answered by the poster simply taking a moment to look at past threads and as Andre has mentioned we're aware of this and things are in the pipeline so to speak :)

Alright missy, i know this is a boxing forum. But i just think its slack how that ppl wont be able to ask self defence questions. As i said b4, i know what its like to have to go to school and know that there is some kid that wants to get his mates and bash the shit out of me......but unlike me most of these kids that ask these questions dont have boxing backgrounds and karate backgrounds like i do. But i do get what you are saying about how you dont want this to be flooded by street fighting questions.
Re: A few things I think this forums needs
they are not self defence questions - we will and do answer those but because some nonce has picked a fight with some other jerk and they're going to go fight after school is not what the training section is about.

I agree missy! BUT what if its the other way around. Some nonce has had a fight picked with him and the other guy plans to bash him after school ;D

I thought I was the only one who did that. I read most of the posts, but I skip the really long ones. I'm always pushed for time on the school computers, and my connection is slow at home, so I never have much readin' time.

Re: A few things I think this forums needs
If I have bulley problems, I just lift my arms above my head and let the smell of my armpits knock em out. No risk in getting hurt at all. O0
