Does anyone train as hard as Floyd Mayweather Jr?
Sitting here watching some training footage.....
There is no denying that when Floyd trains, he is very intense to say the least. Even I have to admire his work ethic. Which also leads me to believe that Floyd could and would hang with some of the old time greats. Floyd can go 15 rounds standing on his head. There is no doubt in my mind he could go for 20 rounds if he had to.
So, is there anyone else today who trains and works as hard as the Money man?
.

Hopkins quickly springs to mind.
Cottos a beast while training.
Hatton certainly trains like a mad man.

Most world champions do, their camps just arent filmed like Mayweathers.
Re: Does anyone train as hard as Floyd Mayweather Jr?
Tito Trinidad, I know he has been gone for a couple of years but he was always a marathon runner, expect to see that when he KO's Roy Jones in two weeks ;D, he shows up to fights in phenomanal shape

I doubt if Toney trains at all today.

The hell you say! It doesn't get much more intense than Toney's high carb, low activity regimen.
(I hope everyone knows I'm being a smart ass ;D)

Re: Does anyone train as hard as Floyd Mayweather Jr?
I agree floyd is always in phenominal shape like he says he stays at 147 year round
Re: Does anyone train as hard as Floyd Mayweather Jr?
The fighters that spring to mind are ..
Frank Tate.. I once spoke to Manny Steward and he told me that this guy trained like you threatened him with a gun...
Tony Tucker.. One heavyweight who really pushed himself to the limit for everyfight before the Tyson bout...It kinda broke his spirit..
Ruslan Chagaev.
First to Gym, Last to leave. (Kenny Adams asked him to do something and he did it until you told him not to do it)
Vassily Jirov..... He trained like a monster.. he even looked posessed...
Merqui Sosa.. He told me that the more pain he felt in training , the less pain you will feel in the fight...
Tim Witherspoon.. (just joking) O0
Re: Does anyone train as hard as Floyd Mayweather Jr?
Juan Manuel Marquez = He trained at 12,000 + altitude i believe, thats some serious commitment.

its not what you do during training camp, its what you do between training camps. This is why Mayweather and Hopkins are always at the top of their game. Hatton trains like mad, only during training camp. When its not training camp, he gets fat and guzzles down beer to no end. Putting Hatton in his proper light, he is lazy. He's like the college student that studies hard only for mid terms and finals, whereas Floyd and Hopkins studies constantly, and picks up their studying during mid term and finals.
Floyd, Hopkins are ever vigilant. They remind me of Jordan who would take the off season to lift weights and play bruising pick up basketball at UNC. Kobe also brutally works out during the offseason. Chris Carter and Jerry Rice are other athletes that come to mind. They never slack up.
Please don't put Hatton in that category.

Terry Norris use to train like a mad man. All that intense training and intense sparring he use to do is believed to have contributed to his downfall

Very true.. In Hatton's case it's almost like he trains hard just to offset the effects of his complete binging after fights... guys like Mayweather train ritually, every day they are looking to improve their physical condition, whether through rigorous training or rest..

One story about Jirov is that one of his Russian trainers paddled him out in a boat and left him in the middle of the sea to fend for himself. Those old-block communist countries took training to totally different and really sick dimension.
