Kurt Otto, founder of the IFL, recently blasted Kurt Angle in an interview. After watching an event from ringside and being told he was going to be matched with Ken Shamrock,Angle did a uturn! “He got scared and wanted to go back into pro wrestling," said Shamrock. "That’s okay, Kurt, I still respect you for what you did in the Olympics, but this is MMA. You don’t come in here, say you’re gonna do something, and then you don’t."
Strange!

Never did like Angle when i watched Wrestling back in the day. Angle copied Shamrocks ankle lock submission in Wrestling as well. I'll tell you what though Angle is a solid wrestler and he is tough, i heard he won the Olympics with a badly injured neck, i think Angle would do very well in MMA, he has solid wrestling skills and he is very good at submission holds as well. But he sounded like a bit of chicken from that interview disappointing to say the least.
Re: Kurt Angle runs away from MMA.
I'm not saying he doesn't have good wrestling skills but to say he has good submission holds is crazy. He has good WWE pantomime submissions. Whacking a sub on a fully resisting 200lb opponent in an MMA match whilst trying to fend off punches to the face is somewhat a different matter.

Angle does have good submission holds, he knows a good variety of them. And if he would of gone in MMA he would of got even better at submission holds. Just because WWE is fake it doesn't mean Angle isn't good at submission holds when he is. Im not saying he is in the league of some of the best submission specialists in MMA, but he still had a good variety of submission skills.

Sorry ICB but how do you conclude Kurt has good submissions? Good submissions to me is applying them to good effect on a fully resisting opponent. Just knowing what they are and how to lock them onto someone who is compliant (despite knowing the technicalities of that sub) is not good submissions to me. WWE is acted out.
I could teach one of the 120lb analyst where i work an RNC or an ude garami and he would be able to apply it to a compliant opponent. Applying to a resisting opponent he would not.
WWE subs and real subs are totally totally different.
I appreciate he may know how to do them and trains them in WWE but having the ability to make them work in a real match is like comparing chalk to cheese.

isn't angle already set to fight in the ufc? ???

Re: Kurt Angle runs away from MMA.
no never heard that. But I just remembered anyway, it's Brock Lesner was I thinking of.
BTW, Dana shooting his mouth of... how novel. ::** I'm really starting to hate that guy. Dana, if you're reading this, just get back behind the scenes and STFU.
