Oscar Floyd 2 in negotiations:what a crock of sh!t
I'm so so glad fighters are not waiting around waiting for this fake jackass to make up his mind. Here's a run down of what the fighters at 147(where Oscar SAID he would fight,whether he can make the weight or not is highly questionable)are doing at the mo'
Margarito v Judah(both were mentioned as possibilities for Oscar:Judah especially in a free bout-yeah right-BOTH are movin on.)
Cotto-Gomez:rather than wait around for Floyd or Oscar to pluck up the balls to fight him,the Puerto Rican Destroyer is staying active and looking to make a name for himself here.This one pleases me the most. I thought Cotto would stay inactive and just wait around,call them out etc etc,but No,he is doing the right thing.
The winners of the above 2 fights will fight each other.
P Willy v Quintana(I personally believe that there are 2 fighters Oscar would not go near:Marg and P.He was gassed from the PPV sparring session with Floyd,imagine what these 2 CARDIO monsters would do to him especially Williams)
Cintron v Clottey(orCintron v Williams,either way,neither of these 2 is getting a shot at Oscar)
Hatton-?(whoever it is,it's going to be at 140 unless Hatton wants to get KTOF again)
That leaves Mayweather who does not seem interested in fighting any of these guys,not yet anyway. IF he decides to forget about his break from the sport for another Oscar fight,there is no way we can consider him number 1 at 147!!
Either way,I'm so so so glad that these young,hungry WW fighters are fighting each other rather than wait around for Oscar. I even credit Zab for doing so(and you guys know I'm not that fond of Judah)
It's time for the best division in boxing to carry on after a stellar year in 07 and continue to give us great fights and new stars.I'm sick of this part time promoter thinking that when it's his time to make a decision,the world should just wait for him to go to his islands,do his meditation adn wait months and months for his fights. This sport needs new stars and I want to see that start today.I think the majority of the above guys agree with me as they have moved on and are fighting each other. :D :D :D ;) ;) ;)

I wish this fight wouldn't happen, the 1st wasn't exactly a thriller.
There are better fights out there for Floyd but I suppose its all down to the mighty dollar.

I agree . I think wed all rather see Floyd - Cotto instead . It makes more sense .
If Oscar ever had a chance of beating Floyd it was last time they met . Now I cant see him doing much better but you never know he just may get the decision this time.

There you have it,the fight is DEFINITELY in negotiation. Whether it happens or not remains to be seen. Either way,what a joke. Sure,sure,another great "event" but Mayweather could fight someone more worthy like Cotto,and I thought Oscar wanted a toe to toe war for his last fights? Punks. What hapened to Mayweather's vacation?
This fight(if it happens) makes NO SENSE. I feel for those who are going to be duped from their hard earned 5o bucks again. And I think it says alot that Oscar and Floyd are choosing each other over a fight with Cotto. >:mad >:mad

I don't believe it will happen.
In all seriousness I can vitually guarantee that the next time we see Oscar De La Hoya on our screens it will be on Dancing with the Stars.
He'll probably win over the audience with his Golden smile and pearly white teeth and then on the back of that success bring out another shitty album which he will take with him to his island to use as soothing background music whilst he searches his Golden soul for who his next opponent should be.

Wow I really hope we don't hear anything more about this... Let alone that the fight actually came off. Just does absolutely nothing for boxing imo. Sells the sport way short, the average sports fan will think this is the best this weight has to offer..

I don't have much interest in seeing Floyd-Oscar 2, but I disagree with this statement. I think Floyd should be given until the end of '08 to fight Cotto. If '08 passes and Floyd has avoided fighting Cotto, then everyone should have free reign to bash Floyd for it, and I'll be criticizing him right along with you. But fighting Oscar in the spring isn't enough to drop Floyd from the top spot at 147.

No it isn't.. If Cotto beats Williams, that's when I'd really give Floyd little time to fight the winner in order to keep his spot. Otherwise though, it's just a poor choice of opponent from Floyd imo, however it is the biggest payday so how can you fault him.

There's worse fights out there, imo.
Cotto is good, but beating 36 year old Mosley and post Mayweather Zab Judah (while having trouble with both) doesn't cement his place as the new welterweight that everybody is supposedly ducking. All these people spewing this rubbish are the same ones that were saying the same thing about Margarito before he got beat by Williams. You can chop it up and look at it however you want, but that's the way it is.
Good for him that he's staying active, but his next fight needs to be against somebody worth a shyt before anybody can even start an INTELLIGENT argument by saying that Mayweather is ducking him.
Oscar is avoiding Margarito for the same reasons that Oscar's avoiding Golden Johnson. No money. Nobody would give a shyt if the fight came off and it probably wouldn't do 250,000 ppv buys. Cotto vs. Delahoya might net 500,000 buys. How much do you think that Delahoya vs. Mayweather would do?? Not to mention, I'm sure Floyd gets a much larger share of the revenue this time around.
Cotto's next fight needs to be against Paul Williams, Cintron (the weakest option, imo) or the Judah/Margarito winner. When he wins a fight (again) of that caliber, then people can begin to talk. But until that happens, the people saying that Floyd is ducking Cotto are just a bunch of delusional fan-boys.

When a said fighter(s) start fighting for money alone over reputation, pride, and proving their worth, they are no longer a boxer but a circus side show. This kind of crap will bury the sport eventually.
When there is a leader of a pride, herd, pack or whatever, they have to fight the strongest young up and comers to maintain their position. If they don't, they will simply get displaced and forgotten!!
Take Hagler for instance. Between his super fights with Duran, Hearns and Leonard, he fought Roldan, Hamsho and Mugabi to maintain his dominance. That is a true fighter there folks, and that is why he is, and will always be considered an all time great. You have to take on all comers, and to those who think Cotto, a two time undefeated and respected champion, does not deserve a shot, you are only kidding yourselves.
