what a performance
Hall was one tough cookie he took a hell of a beating, really and truthfully the fight should of been stopped way before that. This has to be one of the worst one sided beatings in modern day boxing history. Like i have said before Jones is unbeatable at Super Middleweight and Light Heavyweight. One of the most talented boxers of all time.

Re: ROY JONES VS HALL WOW
I have to go back and watch some these from time to time just to remember how bad ass roy used to be...good post !!
Re: ROY JONES VS HALL WOW
Hearns could give him a tough fight because Thomas was so hard to counter and he was so long, but in the end I think Roy's speed is on another level.
Robinson p4p would give Roy problems because he had an incredible chin which would probably handle what Roy could dish out, but Robinson was face enough and he had that jab that would really give Roy problems if he didn't fight really smart.
Re: ROY JONES VS HALL WOW
To us he was so incredible to watch. To his opponents, imagine yourself in their shoes, so helpless to do anything and so frustrated. I imagine myself being Hall in there and thinking, "well if I only had a shotgun right now"
;D
Re: ROY JONES VS HALL WOW
I have a love/hate relationship with that fight.
On one hand, that fight is a beautiful thing to watch as it showcases the greatest athlete in boxing history at his peak. It was a virtuoso performance by a virtuoso fighter and it's incredible to watch, there will never be another Roy Jones.
But on the other hand its terrible to see someone take a beating like Hall took. Watching the last few rounds of that fight and the ending, I get the same feeling as I get when I watch Emile Griffith pounding Benny Paret in their last fight. Its that kind of a beating where you seriously worry about what kind of lasting effect all those blows are going to have on him. Very courageous showing by Hall non the less.
Re: ROY JONES VS HALL WOW
IMO this is the single greatest performance of Roy Jone Jr.'s career just because he dominates Hall so badly. This is due in part to the fact that Hall just keeps comin, loadin up on his left hand thinking somehow someway he can knock Roy out.
While watching the fight I always found it ironic and maybe dare I say a bit poetic that on Richard Hall's trunks is one word: "Destroyer". Of course this is because that was his nickname. BUT he is the one being DESTROYED.
That is one tough fucking Jamaican Nigel Benn wanna bee though. I mean TUFF. What a warrior. What a beating. Roy Jones was the greatest.
Re: ROY JONES VS HALL WOW
No one could make good fighters look like complete bums like Roy Jones in his prime. Even though he didn't beat that many greats (Not entierly his fault), he would outclass the fighters put in front of him so badly he could still easily be recognized as the best fighter of the 90's.

Re: ROY JONES VS HALL WOW
Is there a reggie Johnson one you can put up? That fight was IMO his most impressive at LHW.
Re: ROY JONES VS HALL WOW
Roy Jones may be one of the greatest cons in the history of boxing.
He wasted his prime fighting guys who simply were not on his level. His greatest wins are against Hopkins, James Toney and John Ruiz.
Hopkins is a great win - but Hopkins hadn't hit his peak then and would have been a much tougher fight about five years later. Toney was fucked from making weight. And John Ruiz is John Ruiz.
He should have spent the years from 1993-2000 fighting the elite of the Brits and Europeans, rematching Hopkins and showing us how great he really was.
And now the guys is just smoke and mirrors. He makes some punk excuse for why he lost to Tarver in the third fight (I didn't want my daddy to get the credit if I had won!?!?!)
He is a shot fighter choosing all the right opponents - Prince Badi, Hanshaw and a blown up Tito, while calling out Calzaghe.
The minute he steps up in class he's getting sparked again.
Roy Jones was a sensational fighter, but he wasted his prime and I'm sick of his bullshit and showboating. The sooner someone starches him again and retires his ass for good the happier I'll be.

Reality kicks the door down. CC Greig.
Its been rehashed to the point of dizziness with Jones.Just watched the Tito fight on replay and anyone that thinks this faded phantom who once was an legit great possessing reflex and Pure natural ability can Mix it up with Calzaghe,Hopkins,etc.etc. at this point are living on memories.
You could see him "thinking" constant and double reacting to Tito.A prime Roy was mostly pure reflex & speed,Instinct and top notch conditioning.
Re: ROY JONES VS HALL WOW
Hey guys, wasn't this Hall fight the fight that Roy Jones was rumored to test positive for steroids and the state commission swept it under the rug?

Most shocking of all was that up until the knockdown (round 7 I think) TITO WAS ACTUALLY USING SUPERIOR LEG SPEED TO OUTBOX RJJ.
This one dimensional slugger who hadn't fought in over two years was actually beating Jones to the punch and getting in and out on his ass.
Then Tito got hurt and Roy got bold.
Don't get me wrong, I respect a lot of Jones accomplishments but at the moment is a pale imitation of the man he used to be.
CC to you too Spicoli. Nice posting.
