What does a a loss to Oscar at this stage do to Floyd's legacy?
The liklihood of Floyd losing to Oscar is slim to none imo,but hypothetically speaking,what does it do to his legacy is he lost?I think it would dent it severly wouldn't it?

It would just create a 3rd fight and the most high profile trilogy since Leonard and Duran. A loss at this point is only going to make Floyd's legacy greater because undefeated fighters tend to be looked at as unchallenged.

Wow,Amat,you really think so? A loss to the part time promoter,part time fighter,whom he has just beaten,a loss to him would be very severe imo.It would make me wonder and want to see Floyd v Shane/Cotto/Williams etc more than I even do now!

a lost to floyd against any fighter will be severe, a lost has a greater effect on a fighter when his on his prime and especially undefeated. a fighter that loses before his prime is not that bad but at floyds position a lost will be severe. i agree gamo, i don't think floyd can afford to lose. no wonder he keeps trying to play that "im retired" card, and he avoids fighting good fighter after good fighter that is not a weight below him or a fighter past it and not even in his weightclass.

If Floyd were to lose to Oscar, that severely lowers his legacy. Floyd (and many of his fans, including myself) think of Floyd as a truly great fighter. Great fighters of Floyd's level don't lose in their prime to opponents like Oscar, who is a good (not great) fighter who is past his prime.

My stomach turns at the thought.....Trilogy!It puts Oscar back in the limelight (did he ever leave) and back in our faces.
Mayweather would be exposed as great but mortal man.Oh and he would blame his hurt hands.And all the other welters would sort it out amongst themselves with out the mega pimp cash battles they may deserve against both while These two wait another year and a half :-X most likely without taking large chances.
Dear god, for the first time I am rooting for Mayweather to beat this Diva up and down.

Mayweather will not loose on purpose one thing he prides more than his money is his legacy.

I think a lot careers in boxing come around full circle. Oscar is to Mayweather pretty much what Chavez was to Oscar. An aging legend that still had his name and would stand out on a resume. Oscar wont beat Floyd, but like Chavez, Oscar will come away with his legacy intact and some extra $$

Unless Mayweather gets robbed if he were to lose this fight in My mind at least he would loss his top p4p#1 spot, and he would lose credibility as a great fighter. By now a cerebral guy like him should have Oscar pretty figured out, and the next fight should be even more one sided than the first one. The only other way I would forgive him is if its a flash knockout because Oscar does hit really hard, but even then he should getting caught really cleanly in this fight, and when he was in the first fight it didn't do anything.

Excellent points. The only thing I disagree with is the Oscar hitting really hard. He probably does...but only with the left hook, and no guy, imo, is beating Floyd with just 1 punch. If Floyd blocks and defends v Oscar's left hook, he'll win easy again imo. Oscar's right has been redundant for years and so has his jab.

Ya, I agree.
Oscar is a good puncher, but he hasn't been a one-punch KO type of guy since back when he was fighting in the 130s. His KO's, like the one against Vargas, only came after Oscar has softened his opponent up for multiple rounds by landing lots of clean punches.

i disagree....if he cared about his legacy more than money wht the hell is he fighting oscar again, he could have easily fought shane or cotto...i guarantee pbf vs shane would make him at least 15mil there's no way in hell he can justify fighting oscar over cotto or shane as far as his legacy goes other than $$$$....
So I could believe that he will throw the fight and set up hopefully the biggest payday in his life in a trilogy with oscar...although i think he will learn in this fight that he should have left well enough alone ad might get starched in this fight...I hope not but its more likely than before...think about when oscar fought shane the second time oscar was much better...this time floyd will get hurt....

No offense, but you are out of your mind if you think Floyd would throw a fight, just as the people were out of their mind who suggested that Oscar may have intentionally lost the first fight.
These are two world-class athletes who have busted their a** since they were toddlers to become championship fighters. Guys like Mayweather and De La Hoya would go all-out to beat anyone in a game of checkers, let alone a fight.
The idea that either one of these guys would try to lose a fight is ridiculous.

i guess oscar didn't flop in the the fight against bhop? Yeah i can believe that its unlikely but who knows floyd might have convinced himself that by facing the old guy he's already beaten. The man who has now lost 4 out of 5, his only victory coming against a terrible boxer who also was coming of a long layoff (mayorga)..yeah facing delahoya is just about money$$$$ please is not too far fetched that floyd and ellerbe said
"man imagine how much money we'd make if people really believed that oscar is still good",
it might be a stretch but it not unlikely for a money driven guy like floyd to do it clearly he doesn't care about beating the best competition out there....he could beat mosley and still make around 15-20mill and that would help his legacy more than beating delahoya for around the same amount because this foight won't generate that same amount as the first one in which he took around 23 mill
