Re: Ali - Famous article??
Yeah Tins thats correct Ali had a number of Reporters convinced that he did his training underwater to develop his speed and reflexes, although Ali couldn't actually swim.
Re: Ali - Famous article??
lol funny stuff isnt't but do you know if it's in a ring mag or boxing news mag or something im dying to get my hands on something about it.
Re: Ali - Famous article??
At that stage it was mostly newspapers that carried boxing stories so I imagine it would be in a newspaper.
However, I know I read it in either Thomas Hauser's bigraohy or another Ali book. I'll flick through them after work and training to see can I find any details.
I may PM you in a while Tins becasuse that sounds like an interesting project!
Re: Ali - Famous article??
Cheers man I first read about it in Ali - His life and times...but Its only when i got the picture i wanted an article to go with it.
Re: Ali - Famous article??
A quick Google of Ali Underwater says the picture first came from Life Magazine 1961, the photographer was Flip Schulke.
Re: Ali - Famous article??
Well done zzz!!! It seems so onbvious once you said it!
And yeah I know exactly what you mean Tins.
I never paid much heed to the career of Barry McGuigan although he's a national Icon and a local, largely because he was before my time and had a very differnet style than I.
However upon meetinh him I found new relevance in his career and want to watch every bit of it.

Heh heh Try googling Life magazine 1961. Google is based on a very simple concept: Any idea you could possibly have, you are pretty much guaranteed that at least 100 other people have had the same idea and put it on the internet. good luck.
Re: Ali - Famous article??
Thats a tough one, but as Ali was on the front, there's bound to be a couple of preserved copies. Try the wonderful E-bay first, then perhaps a national media archive andif that fails the magazine itself???
