100 Greatest Sporting Icons of All Time - voted by the UK.
I don't know if anybody has already posted this but somebody left a copy of 'sport' magazine on my desk a week or so ago (a free magazine by www.myfreesport.co.uk) It had the 100 top sporting icons of all time as voted by the U.K as the main topic. It surprised me! Especially after getting the feeling that most fans who went out to watch Ricky Hatton were football fans and didn't even know who Sugar Ray Robinson or Rocky Marciano even were it's a nice surprise to see how many boxers are included in the UK's top 100 greatest sportsmen and women of all time...Not sure if it was a survey for the whole of the U.K though or just for the readers of the mag..here are the rankings
99- Sir Henry Cooper
88- Lennox Lewis
79 - Evander Holyfield
75 - Sugar Ray Leonard
60 - Joe Calzaghe
52 - Sugar Ray Robinson
41 - Mike Tyson
36 - Arnold Schwarzenegger (Not a boxer but who doesn't love Arnie? :D)
26 - Rocky Marciano
and numero UNO...
MUHAMMAD ALI!!
What does everybody think of the standings? I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of boxers included..and ecstatic that a boxer took the number 1 spot!

The UK has 60 million bods.
The readership of that mag is in the thousands. Voters would have to be considered a lot less.

Evander Holyfield doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as any of those guys mentioned. I give Holyfield about as much credit for beating Tyson at that stage in Tyson's career as I give Felix Trinidad for beating an ultra-faded Pernell Whitaker.

Calzaghe in front of Lewis?

Haha CutmeMick, this one was interesting bro..I thought he'd be waaaaay up there but guess where he was? Around the 90's. That's why I thought 'wow this thing actually has some credibility!' ;D
And to the guy that said fuck ali..fuck you lol
Yupp, Calzaghe above Lewis surprised me too..Although having lost 2 fights, Lewis fought everybody.
