This may be a personal perspective, but I feel sorry for Amir. I think he will suffer from being on ITV in the sense that they had little interest in boxing before he came along, and so the hype surrounding him seems huge. He has so much to live up to, and I hope he can handle it. I believe he will fall victim to a very English pastime at some point - build them up to knock them down.
Don't feel too sorry for him. He's well on the Frank Warren road to success, and he's already made more money than 90% of pros make in their entire career.
He's been brought along very nicely - he seems like a nice young lad and I think he has the tools to go far.
Building people up and knocking them down isn't just a British pass time - we're mad for it here in Australia. Rest assured by the time you are knocking him down he'll be a very wealthy man, which should ease the pain of whatever bullshit the Sun will write about him...

Well Wright I can't say this is true since I don't live in England buuuut I do remember when Naz was coming up and becoming big I did hear a lot about him. I've seen and read about Khan but not as much as I remember hearing about Naz.
However I do understand where you are coming from. It happened recently and I lived thru it. I immidiately became a fan of Francisco 'Panchito' Bojado and quickly bought into how great he would one day be. I sat ringside at his fights I met him several times and followed his career closely. The media created him and that same media destroyed him once he lost.
I learned my lesson tho cause around the same time in 2001 I saw a fighter by the name of Miguel Cotto. I kept quite and shut my mouth I said to myslef I would never again HYPE up a fighter until the fighter has reached 15-20 fights depending on opposition and that kind of stuff.

Obviously a lot of where and when he can fight depends on how strict the contract is, and if its loose then Khan might stick around. Otherwise, I expect he might join the rest of Warren's workhorses on the Setanta network pretty soon.
Any chance he fights on the Calzaghe-Hopkins undercard? That would be the PERFECT way to get Khan exposure in the US, in my opinion.Quote:
