Ivan Calderon Appreciation Thread.
Its about time Calderon stops getting overlooked. and boxing fans need to know about Ivan Calderon. He is one of the most skilled little fighters since the great Ricardo Lopez. He was the former Minimumweight champion, and is now currently Light Flyweight champion. IMO he is a top 10 P4P fighter and he gets overlooked way too much just like Ricardo Lopez did in his prime.
Heres some highlights of his fight with Hugo Cazares.

Yep its a shame boxing fans don't know about Calderon, hopefully this thread will help get Calderon's name a bit more recognized.
Re: Ivan Calderon Appreciation Thread.
It should have been 2 knockdown's there in the 8th for Cazares, lucky lucky boy Ivan.
Re: Ivan Calderon Appreciation Thread.

You are confusing lucky with skills. The Iron Boy fought a 130 punds opponent the day of the fight and you still say lucky?? Calderon showed a great heart and amazing skills. Did you watch the fight?? If not a rematch is being set up probably for March 15.
Re: Ivan Calderon Appreciation Thread.
I've been a Calderon fan for a long long time now, and am in awe of his skills. He DOMINATED 1 division and beat some tough tough opponents there, then moves up and fights a monster power puncher on an awesome unbeaten run and wins in a wonderful and close fight. He then faces a tough contender straight after Cazares in Esquer. That would be like Mayweather moving to 147 and fighting Margarito/Williams in his first fight and then fighting a contender like Clottey in the next. The "Iron' Boy" is certainly under rated and a wonderful tactician. I'm lucky enought to own 7 of his fights and each is a good watch, for those interested in technical, counter punching, pure boxers. His style is certainly not to everyone's tastes but I love the guy.
He is also a great definition,to me,of what a POUND FOR POUND fighter is,he dominated 1 weight class and fought whoever was put in front of him and then moved up and fought the best there, you can't ask for more than that.
Re: Ivan Calderon Appreciation Thread.
What I meant when I said "lucky, lucky Ivan" was that 8th round could have been scored 2 knockdowns in Cazares' favour.
I'm not dissing Calderon as I have huge respect for him and think he is a top class operator and is without doubt underrated.
Re: Ivan Calderon Appreciation Thread.
I'm a fan, really great fighter.
Thing is some people just don't pay attention to the lower weights, can't force them too. I think personally they're missing out but its up to them. That and he's a pure boxer without power and some people just think that's boring.

LOL I pitty you for posting this video. but yet you only posted the 8 and 9 rounds. Those were the only good rounds Carares had. I don't have to post specific rounds or seconds to show people were Calderon did good.
I will post the complete fight from were Calderon shined.
;D ;) IF Calderon could have a bit more power Carzares would've been Ko in that fight.

I think so as well. I like Calderon. But I had him losing the Cazares fight
