The weirdest feeling in the world.
This morning a good friend asked me how I was feeling and was I up for a spar?
I said I was and smiling he drove me to a gym I hadn't seen before. Upon entering I saw a berautiful gym and the best equipment I'd seen since I was in the states. However, one thing unnerved me, the lack of a ring!!!! The floor was matted in places and as he had been kickboxing a long time I copped it that he was talking MMA sparring. So we strapped on all this protective gear, Headgear with chin, shin pads, eforearmpads, groinguard, man it felt weird.
Then we went at it, standing up I was better of course and he soon went to the floor....Now this I did not like....As he got to half guard I was practically gruntin "get off me!!!" but I managed to voice it with a couple of punches. I bounced to my feet and upon his subsequent rush I caught him in a good headlock that he called a guillotine, but then a momnet later I was on the floor, I have no idea how!!!! So thats fine, I did some bjj and i kicjked the bejesusout of his legs until he caught hold of one of em again and tried to mount, well I let a hail mary go and was on my feet again, I kept my distance and worked the outside.
Donny does not like takedowns!!!
Re: The weirdest feeling in the world.
I've done some Judo cross trainig. I got a few good concepts out of it and plan to do some again once I can afford to buy a ghi (after the gloves) and when I can pair up with someone my own weight.
It is really weird though - I can relate! I can't explain what it is - just foreign I think! Like you want to get everything technically correct and have some basics down but just have nothing!

I think it's fun alright, I don't dislike it but fighting on the ground is so strange! And when someone ties you up you just want to shout "Hey!!! Thats against the ruleeessss"
Re: The weirdest feeling in the world.
Big difference between boxing (fist-fighting) and ground-fighting...:-X

I should feel guilty, but the phrase "tried to mount" cracked me up
