Sturm to fight Jamie Pittman (Aus) on April 5th
Boxing News -- Fightnews.com : EkpklkAuFlPgIUbOJS
I've never seen Pittman, but he is young (26) and undeafeated (16-0). However, he has only 7 wins inside time, and only one of those came against a fighter with a winning record. Also, the only name I recognize on his record is William Gare, and he is not exactly world class.
So based on that, this should be an easy night for Sturm - however, I thought that last time out as well, yet he was not unlucky to walk away with a draw...
Any comments on this? Or on Pittman? I know there is a fair few people from Oz here, so perhaps they fancy his chances?

Sturm just needs to hang em up. This guy has been a real dissapointment , fighting nothing but bums and tunring down a title shot with Taylor when he had the chance. He was way overrated when he was thought highly of. A one dimmensional figther with marginal skills.

I like Jamie Pittman, "Mr Business". I've seen some of his fights and liked them. He's got a KO win over Les Sherrington here who's more a super middle weight. If he's world class we will have to wait and see. Against Sturm you would have to think the age factor will play a part so GO JAMIE. He has some Youtube stuff so check it out here:

yeah sturm has been a huge disapointment to us all i guess. after the ODLH fight i thought yeah he should of won the fight so take confidence from that and go on to bigger and better things, but in reality the exact opposite has happened. Dont know to much about this guy pittman but time is running out for mr sturm whats the saying 's*** or get off the pot'

Must be frustrating to be a fan of this guy who doesn't live in Germany.

Sturm speaks at presser...
...
"After my last fight in October, I took a good break," said Sturm, who retained his belt with a draw against mandatory challenger Randy Griffin last October. "Maybe it was a bit too much," he admitted, "having three tough fights in six months. Now my team and I notice that I'm full of new energy and training is fun again." Regarding his opponent, WBA #13 Jamie Pittman (16-0, 7 KOs), the champion was very respectful. "An unbeaten fighter who can hit hard, promises to be an interesting fight," commented Sturm.

Thats what I said after the Griffin fight...Sturm didn't look good conditioned ,because of his low punching power Sturm will mostly fight 12 rnds and thats taxing...But I still had Sturm winning the fight, even though it was close...

Sturm has fought tough fights, but usually against guys withno name. This really limits his attraction to the media and general boxing public...

Yea good point, he's been managed horribly over the last year or so.. Or maybe it's as much his own fault, I don't know. But he's taken tough, taxing fights against opponents who bring nothing to the table at all, they may as well have been bums he could KO.. This could be another one for all we know, never heard of Pittman.. Least Sturm says he's in great condition now, there's no excuse if he doesn't deliver in this one.

Absolutely...thats what wacko and I have been saying...just because you haven't heard of a boxer doesn't automatically mean that he is a bum...

Wow, how does Felix keep up this pace of fighting great fighter after great fighter :beat:
Sturm needs to fight AT LEAST on the level of Sergio Mora and John Duddy....let's face it, he's a second rate fighter and he's not going to ever amount to anything because he's not pushing himself right now in his prime and it's sad because one night he had everything going for him and fought his ass off and he never capitalized on his success vs De la Hoya

I'm gonna call it here and say Pittman by UD.
Sturm is a loss waiting to happen.
