Arum says Pavlik-Trinidad in the works...
WHAT? ??? Uh oh...I may have to change my pick for Saturday...I never like when they start talking about future fights before they get past their current opponent. LOL.
Anyway, I just read this nugget:
"If Trinidad can make that weight and provided the [purse] split is right, we would love to make the fight," Arum continued, "but I won't know for sure until I meet with King."
That's the most important detail, but here's the whole story just in case...
Pavlik-Trinidad in the works?
Re: Arum says Pavlik-Trinidad in the works...
LOL that means knowing King and Tito it would be like a 90/10 split in favor of those who just lost to a old roy jones lol
Re: Arum says Pavlik-Trinidad in the works...
Pavlik would brutalize Tito. It would be ugly to watch.
Re: Arum says Pavlik-Trinidad in the works...
Well thats good for him. He will need to go back to fighting marginal fighters when Jermain is through with him tommorow night.
Re: Arum says Pavlik-Trinidad in the works...
Tito is impressive always picking hard fights.

There's no doubt about that. The guy has an excellent resume.
Re: Arum says Pavlik-Trinidad in the works...
would be a brilliant fight but it would be a sad site seeing tito koed
Re: Arum says Pavlik-Trinidad in the works...
I have BIG doubts about Tito's ability to get down to 160, but it would be a fun fight if he can make the weight.
Tito fighting for the middleweight title on the eve of the parade would be a great atmosphere.
Re: Arum says Pavlik-Trinidad in the works...
I think Trinidad can still be competitive at 160. I don't think he'll beat Pavlik, but I don't see him getting blown out. With all this talk about future opponents, it almost seems like Pavlik is over looking Taylor.

I'm pretty sure that the title is not on the line this fight. Something about weight...

Although I wish I don't, but I do agree with you. I really think that Tito should not have major issues for making 160, however, this week I read in a local newspaper Felix Trinidad Sr. stating that Tito will keep fighting at weights higher than 160. It was sad for me to read this because I think that Tito still have a couple of good fights, but his body and power are not that effective for fighting above 160 (at 160 he may be pushing it).
I admire that he is looking for big fights different to many other boxers, but my impression is that he is in the incorrect weight division.
Re: Arum says Pavlik-Trinidad in the works...
Pavlik-Trinidad, talk of Cotto-Mayorga. Looks like Arum and King working together. Apocalypse might be uppon us :o
Re: Arum says Pavlik-Trinidad in the works...
Pavlik will brutalise Tito. I don't know what happened during the Tito-Roy fight that suddenly both guys are now championship material.
Before the fight they were seen as just two old fighters grabbing attention, the fight went exactly as everyone predicted, and now they're seen as genuine contenders? wtf.
Newsflash to everyone who thinks otherwise, Roy did NOT look any better physically than he did against Johnson three years ago, he was off balance after throwing shots, and he doesn't have the stamina to sustain an attack. He may have tightened his defence up a little but that was all.
As for Tito, well he never was the genuine article above 154, he didn't carry the power (his main asset) and his limited variety was exploited at the top level. Pavlik would've comforatably beaten the 2001 version of Trinidad let alone this shadow.
Both guys ar HoF fighters and legends, but their time has passed.

I don't think Tito is seen as a genuine contender. Arum wants him because he knows Tito could sell a ton of tickets if the fight is held at MSG on the eve of the Puerto Rican parade.
Arum and King Planning a fight between Pavlik vs Trinidad
Well , next week Arum and Don King going meet together for planning a fight between Pavlik vs Trinidad , no matter if he lose the fight with Taylor today , they are waiting for the decition of Trinidad Team to see if Tito can make the weight without problem......This fight will be interesting , but my opinion is that Tito have difficult in the weight over 160 pnd. i dont know how he going make it and dominate that weight, because the point is not to make it , is dominate it...;)
