Anyone see Montiel v Castillo?Thoughts?
I didn't see that coming! Martin Castillo, a great amatuer beating lots of other top fighters and starting his career off well, having a couple of top wins but never really took off. Cuts hindered him.Lay offs etc.
As for Montiel,I just didn't see this coming. I mean he's choked in his 2 biggest fights but what a turn around!
Re: Anyone see Montiel v Castillo?Thoughts?
Perfect faint then left hook in the first round put an end to any chance Castillo had in this fight. Montiel dominated throughout and looked good, Mijares next?
Re: Anyone see Montiel v Castillo?Thoughts?
Castillo looked shot, good win for Montiel but I think any decent flyweight would have bowled him over.

The one thing i noticed was that Montiel had much quicker hand speed than Castillo, and that was the key. Castillo basically lost when he first went down in the 1st round, but what a body shot from Montiel to finish it off that was perfect.
Re: Anyone see Montiel v Castillo?Thoughts?
Yeah, that was a vicious body shot. I hope we get to see Montiel vs Mijares.
Re: Anyone see Montiel v Castillo?Thoughts?
Castillo looked shot to fuck oh and I HATE Joe Cortez
Re: Anyone see Montiel v Castillo?Thoughts?
Castillo looked so good in the first Munoz fight but really hasn't looked the same since for some reason, maybe a bad night for Munoz but still.
I actually didn't see this one though, only one of the fights I missed. I thought they had both looked unimpressive in their last few fights and picked Castillo which was obviously a shitty pick. Oh well.

Fcuk! I should've bought the fight.
I had to attend a kid bday party.
Re: Anyone see Montiel v Castillo?Thoughts?
Montiel looked flawless, and as a result people are looking for reasons why Castillo was poor, such as him being shot. However Montiel was just the better fighter on the day. A class performance.
Re: Anyone see Montiel v Castillo?Thoughts?
I think Montiel is the best in super flyweight right now, tough fights for him would be Gorres, Vic and Mijares. I think he's going to bantamweight soon though.

Yeah it was a nice shot alright. Castillo probably could have got up but just didn't. I suspect he knew what would have followed. The commentators were talking Mijares straight after. "The boxer V The puncher".

More then anything I think the surgerys Castillo has had played dividens here. The day I met Castillo hi's face looked pretty beat up with scars on his eye lids his nose and around the face from where he had his surgery done.
I predicted a Montiel win but never did I imagine it would be by TKO.

Re: Anyone see Montiel v Castillo?Thoughts?
I've said this in another thread.
I'm not a Montiel fan, but I wouldn't take anything away from any boxer who puts in the work but...
I think the Castillo in that Ring was a man who was tired of fighting. I think mentally he din't want to be there and was just waiting to get out of there...
