But remember one Calzaghe's biggest weakness is one of Pavlik's biggest strength's aka the straight right hand ;)

Hmmm i dont think the one punch would shape the whole fight.Pavlik loves to come forward and Joe at his best with someone who is gonna bring it.
It would have to be at supermiddle and I dont think Pavlik would have a problem with that.
would Pavlik take the risk this early into his title reign though.
How many southpaws has pavlik fought?

Rumors and looking past Hopkins can be hazardous to a guys career ;D
Pavliks straight punches and tenacity vs. Calzaghes semi wide and high output forward approach .could be exciting

Im not saying it would shape the whole fight but Calzaghe has struggled with straight hands badly in the past notably against Reid and Woodhall, but lets remember Pavlik hits much harder than both of those fighters. And Pavlik would be the biggest puncher Calzaghe has ever fought, and you say Calzaghe is at his best when someone comes forward but why did he have big problems with Reid and other come forward fighters ?? Pavlik has fought Bronco McKart who is a good skilled Southpaw, im not sure how many more he has fought but IMO i don't think Southpaw style will give Pavlik too many problems.

By come forward i mean Up for the fight as in he is going to be throwing alot,Joe likes to counter.
Ive still not got round to watching Calzaghe reid TBH.But Joe does struggle with dirty fighters true..but thats dirty not guys who like to be aggresive.
I could see Joe picking him off with counters. provided he don't start jumping on him.
If Pavlik wants to try and rough him up...depends if Joe could pull the outwork trick on a tough nut like pavlik.
