After watching the Winky Tito fight i had a long and fruitless wonder on the subject of Southpaws and thier natural advantage and it made me wonder.... if you take two fighters of equal age, size and ability with one being a southpaw why does the southpaw posess such a wildcard?
As far as tactics go, Is there a proven way to read and beat a southpaw ???

Well I spar against a southpaw he's a pro cruiserweight, he doesn't always fight southpaw he apparently likes fighting me that way because it makes me throw my left hook less and he uses his straight left more.
As far as fighting a lefty doesn't change much of your tactics or anything just makes you feel a little awkward in there, and head butts are always dangerous when fighting them. You can still throw the cross over the jab and still land the hook ( when you get the angles ). Not ALL lefties have Winky's defense you can open up the head or the body by switching up what you attack. Just try not to be predictible like you would do in any other fight.
well i really dont think that tito had trained to fight a south paw. He kept moving right like one would on a orthodox fighter instead of moving left and takinig away his jab.
Im south Paw. but to have the "advantage" over one all you have to do is keep him/her on the inside of you meaning keep your lead foot outside of his lead foot and you shuold see that he's at your mercy... shhh just dont tell everyone becuase it makes it harder for us lefty's ;)
how do u tell if ur fighting a south paw
iz there right foot foward wen there fighting or do they just hit mostly with there left?
Its hard to beat anyone who is crafty - I love fighting southpaws cause I am one and I find it more challenging for me - but you could be right handed and still be a great crafty orthodox fighter which is like watching a SP fight his mirror image - just be able to read your opponents nove and stay in certain positions to counter
The key to winning any skilled fighter is to just keep pounding them - never be intimidated even if they are bigger,stronger,faster - have heart
