Lets switch it up a bit, shall we?... It needs to be done!!!

How often do we whine and moan about what's wrong with the sport?

Pretty much on a daily basis, no?

OK, well I'm getting a bit tired of it and would like to pose a question to all of you...

What is GREAT about BOXING?!?!?!

I'll begin...

1. The entire boxing year of 2007.
2. Fighters like Duddy(I believe someone called him a bum earlier:rolleyes:)
3. Fighters like Katsidis... Every era needs its Gatti.
4. Ricky Hatton... Great working class fighter with a set on him.
5. The Contender... For bringing boxing back into the main stream.
6. Steve Smoger
7. Kelly Pavlik... A middleweight champ that TOOK the title!
8. Joe Louis. Uniting a country(even if only for a short time)
9. Thank God for the little guys right now!
10. Hopkins Calzaghe- seriously can't wait for this...
11. Mayweather Hatton
12. Jermain Taylor (this will need some explaining) Not so much a fan but respect that he's had a hard road with little recognition... He fought BHop twice... Winky, Kassim Ouma, Corey Spinks and Pavlik twice.
13. Rocky Marciano... 49-0;)
14. Ray Robinson- The sweetest of the sugars.
15. BHop- 43 and still biggest mouth on the block. Still yet to be shut;D
16. Recardo Mayorga... Always he same thing but still ALWAYS sells the fight.;D
17. Arturo Gatti... I hate the argument that Gatti doesn't belong in the HOF... (A HOF is a museum type place that houses awards for notable achievements... I think the shows he put on were noteable achievements)


I could go on all day but I'd like to hand this off to all of my fellow Saddonians!

I don't know if I can make a big list about what's great about boxing after debating so many posters with negative views from this weekend.

I'm happy we got a unified title holder in the heavyweight division

1) The ambition. Every fighter who ever touches gloves dreams of the world title. That can inspire a fella to pull his life from the gutter, to put himself through hell just in order to compete for fun!!!

2) Kronk Gym....I love their style, can't believ that place almost died!

3) The humble fighter...Hatton, Gatti, Cotto, Pavlik, I love guys like these.

4) The young Blood.....Boxing's ressurgence, whats not to love?

5) The big fights....Credit to all involved for 2007 being one of the best years for big fights in living memory...Long live 2008 by the way....

Great Thread POB- I agree we need to stop complaining and look at the positive sides of the sport....We are killing our own past time with all the negetive.....

1- The fact we have 2 fighters willing to go at it just for the sheer fact they wanted to settle some business and not for a title...Pavlik/Taylor

2- The Welterweight division

3- I echo the words Thank Goodness for the little guys

4- A new breed of pound for pound fighters on the rise EG-Diaz, Doniare,

5- The fact we have fighters that put a positive view on the sport away from the ring..EG- Klitschko, Calzaghe

6- We still have guys that give us our moneys worth. EG- Pacquiao, Duddy, Pavlik

7-We have champions out there unifying titles

And 100% agree about the Gatti statement
