Did Vazquez/Marquez III Remind Anyone of Chavez/Taylor?
Sure, Marquez was able to hurt Vazquez a few times and even knocked him down, but it seemed that Vazquez had a greater, a more prolonged and a more pronounced effect on Marquez. There were several times where Vazquez caught him and it seemed like Marquez started clomping around the ring, throwing punches (sometimes successfully) just to keep Vazquez off, whereas Vazquez recovered a lot quicker and seemed to show no after effects (other than the cuts and broken nose) after getting hit.
And that 12th round. I've never seen a round so thoroughly dominated. Even without the knockdown I might have scored it 10-8.

Not really man one was a one sided fight until the later rounds (Chavez,Taylor) one was a back and forth the whole night. The 12th wasnt even that similar because JCC only really came on in the last min or so. The only similarity was the knockdown at the end, and this time the ref didnt ruin the outcome by stopping it.

I can definitely see what your saying. It was also quite reminiscent of Toney Jirov as well imo when Toney came on strong and put Jirov down in the last minute.
Great fight, really couldn't have asked for more.
Marquez came within 10 seconds and one point deduction from winning the fight.
really doesn't get any closer than that.
Full credit to Vazquez I don't think I've seen a fighter show more heart than him in this fight.
Just a shame he's not a welterweight because he would throw everything and the kitchen sink at Floyd. He'd probably get cut and battered but man oh man what a fight that would be!

No it wasn't nothing like Chavez vs Taylor IMO, it actually reminded me of Bobby Chacon vs Rafael Limon 4, where Chacon was down in the 4th like Vasquez was. And he knocked Limon down in the last round and that knockdown won him the fight on the scorecards similar to how Vasquez's knockdown of Marquez in the last round won him the fight.
Re: Did Vazquez/Marquez III Remind Anyone of Chavez/Taylor?
I understand what you mean. The fight was not really similar at all but in those last 30 secconds, all I was thinking was Chavez - Taylor.
When the ref jumped in, I was sure he was stopping the fight. Then I realized he was counting and felt relived for Marquez.
I have to say that was a great great job all around. For once, everybody got it right. The fighters did a great job, the ref did a great job and the judges did a great job. The only complaint I have is that this fight should've gotten WAY more promotion.
Re: Did Vazquez/Marquez III Remind Anyone of Chavez/Taylor?
If the fight had been fifteen more seconds there wouldn't have been a need for score cards.
Re: Did Vazquez/Marquez III Remind Anyone of Chavez/Taylor?
Not really, coz Taylor got choked. He would've won by UD if it wasn't for that last 2 seconds stoppage.
As for Vazquez-Marquez, they were both giving-n-taking in every each round.
