Pavlik to fight Gary Lockett?

Huh, I don't even know if I've ever seen the guy fight.

I had heard that he was one of four candidates along with Duddy (not possible), Giovanni Lorenzo, and somebody else so this is a definite possibility.

I don't care personally, I don't have a problem with him taking a softer fight after the last three as long as he steps back up again. After looking at boxrec it definitely seems like a gimme but I can't really say much about him.

He is from Wales, maybe some of our UK friends in here can provide more information. I never heard of him either.

Enzo apparently trains him.

I'd put Lockett on a par with Duddy.. so NO chance against Pavlik.

Having said that, Lockett does have a decent whack on him.. but NO chance against Pavlik.

He can't half bang. Am never under-estimating an Enzo trained fighter again so i have to say that it could be a toughy for Pavlik. Don't think Lockett will win but you can never rule someone out when they carry his one punch power.

This would be a one-sided beating, a total mismatch. I'm surprised Warren would let this happen.

A one side beating? No I dont think it will be like that, hes got Enzo Calzaghe behind him and the fact that he will know this is his only shot at the world title. I dont think he would beat Pavlik but I see him giving himself a good account for himself, good luck to him!

I just see him getting badly overpowered and if you look at Lockett's resume :-\

I just hope they have a Paramedic team at ringside for the guy.

I mean I like Enzo but a trainer can be overrated at times, if he's not good enough he's just not good enough.

Not saying he is or isn't since I haven't seen him but that seems like the general consensus for the most part.

Lockett is a strong lad whos faught at the weight his whole life he will be alright. Hes had one set back in his career and needs a good test and I believe we will see the best out of him against the best.

So the feelings are mixed. Some feel he will give a good account of himself and others believe Gary "Rocket Man" Lockett will get blasted into Orbit!hehe

I find the relative unknown fighters can be the most dangerous. They have nothing to lose and really get motivated. The Champs who fight them also may not train quite as hard thinking easy fight.

That is when upsets happen.

Gary is a good guy, but this could be to much for locket.

PAvlik has proven he is the best and can beat very skilled fighters. who nows though, locket hasn;t really been tested, they must think he can have a good go to put him in, enzo and frank wouldn;t put a fighter in whom they thought would get a complete beat down.

Lockett looked exciting overpowering Howard Clarke and the like (which seems like aeons ago now) but once he suffered the setback seems like he lost confidence in himself.. and probably more so his people lost confidence in him.. that's why he's been in no mans land throughout what should have been his prime.

Dont really know much about Garry Locket other than I think he used to be a light middle and got beat by a short ass russian called yuri tsarenko a few years ago

If he is with Calzaghe at least he is getting consistantly good sparring, that makes all the difference

Pavlik will destroy Lockett. I seen a couple of Lockett's fights. I see nothing that makes me think he can even be competitive against The Ghost.

No match for Pavlik, took a right beating from Yuri Tsarenko back in 2004 noy lost since including win over Yuri not fought in the same class as Pavlik. holds WBU middleweight title for what it's worth
