Tremendous weekend of boxing!!!
I was totally wrong about Haye. I thought he was chinny, had no stamina and was over rated. One of the worst calls I've made in a long time. He has tremendous power,I mean gobsmacking! I would love to see him clean out the HW!!
Quite a few upsets too with Godfrey,Diaz,Mashaba etc losing,a stunning KO,Pong v Naito 4,Peter back on the right track and 2 fighters who should really be retired confirming those thoughts(Ruiz should have his licence revoked for his hugging and JLC is way too unprofessional)
Boxing starting to pick up bigtime after a very dry Jan topped by the Tito-RJ "event". I told you March would be awesome!:D:D:D
Re: Tremendous weekend of boxing!!!
I say we are having a great year in boxing thus far, with great match-making and great results.

On paper, the year looks even better than last but I thought Jan and most of Feb were pretty slow. HW unification was poor,RJ V Tito did not appeal to me at all and Pavlik v Taylor was a good match, not a great one like the first one. Last 2 weeks, rest of this month and April look mind boggingly good though!:o:o

When was the last time to have two triple-belt (+ Ring belt) fights on the same night? And a Heavyweight title fight on top of that?
I am a bit surprised that you call Kraj's victory against Godfrey an upset, though? Kraj was the home fighter, has an excellent amateur record (Olympic silver) and has been building a nice name for himself in the Cruiserweight division. Sure, he only has 14 fights to his name, but the extensive amateur career makes up for a lot of experience. All in all, I think 'Kraj on points' was pretty much in the cards for this fight.
Will be interesting what to make of his WBC mandatory status - last night's fight was an eliminator - as Haye seem unlikely to even consider defending that title against Kraj.

I called it an upset because I thought Kraj was an underdog in the fight, even though it was in his backyard, mainly because not many may have seen him. And you're totally spot on about all those titles and RING titles on the line. Great stuff this weekend.

Probably it's because our 'neck of the woods' are different, but I am/was much more comfortable with Kraj than Godfrey :)
And it seemed obvious to me that Kraj was supposed to win this - this being in Germany and all. I did predict (in the prediction contest) a Kraj MD, but Kraj won it a bit more comfortable than that. Good for him. I haven't seen the fight (yet), but according to fightnews, the win was well deserved as well.
Re: Tremendous weekend of boxing!!!
It was a GREAT weekend for boxing. I enjoyed watching all three of the big fights. Awesome.
Campbell vs. Diaz was THE fight though, for sure. Almost as great as last weekend's Marquez vs. Vasquez fight.

Throw in the Kiko Martinez defeat too
Re: Tremendous weekend of boxing!!!
It sure was. And I got to see nearly all those fights too which is unusual for me. :D My liver hates me today though.

Re: Tremendous weekend of boxing!!!
It was a busy weekend. I never saw so much action injected into one weekend like that in a long long time.
I hope the trend continues.
