Re: Could I take up boxing?
There's nothing holding you back. If you have a genuine interest in taking up boxing, then that's all you really need.
If you're having some cold feet about it, then go visit some gyms. If possible just pay for a few days worth of boxing and see what's there to like. Just keep in mind that the quality between boxing gyms/clubs vary, it's worth checking several gyms to find one that really suits you.
Re: Could I take up boxing?
I am the same age as you, and took up boxing last year. I found the toughest part was making time for everything in my life (wife and kids, school, work...). To be able to train properly you need to have the time to do it. Outside of that there shouldnt be anything beside medical reasons to hold you back from starting. I would say go for it!
I was able to train for about 5 months and was able to get in 1 amatuer fight. I have hit my 34th birthday so no more amatuer fights for me. 34 years old + is Master class and those guys will have hundreds of fights under their belts.

- I like walking and can walk long distances
- I'm quite skinny
- Also I don't know if I could get punched in the face without getting knocked out every single time ;)
- I like martial arts but apart from very minor things I've never really tried it
Of course it's hard to make a judgement from that but off hand what do you think?
Have to be honest with you yes anybody can do boxing, but first off if your taking boxing seriously. Then you need to be prepared for a lot of hard work and you will get hurt if your having a proper amateur fight, boxing isn't an easy sport and its hard physically and mentally. But if your just doing it to keep fit and etc then why not go right ahead.

I took it up at 33, then had to take a break for a year because my work schedule made it impossible, and now at 35 I'm back and I've been back training for 5 months.
33 is a little old to compete seriously, but that shouldn't deter you. I love the training and I love sparring. At somepoint, I'd like to have a few "white collar" fights. I spar with much younger guys and it's good.

Sorry I din't replay to this earlier.
You can achieve anything if you try hard enough.
Cintron started boxing at 19, he's now a world champ.
George Foreman similarly.
If they can become world champs you can at least have some am fights.
