Ive injured my jaw.. advice?
Well i was doing some sparring with my mate last night and he got me good across the jaw, near the back by my molars..
im in trouble cos now i cant eat solid foods at all, it just hurts to hell, im on the soup and yogurt.
there was a little blood, but so far nothing seems seriously damaged and it only hurts if i chew or open my mouth to wide..
Anyone had any similar injuries? how long am i stuck in this state? any excersises i can do to help the healing process?
thanks,

Blood from the jaw would imply that it's been broken.
Any movement could have consequences so get it checked immediatly!
Re: Ive injured my jaw.. advice?
the blood was from my tooth..
Re: Ive injured my jaw.. advice?
Teeth moving or popping out are symptoms of a fractured or broken jaw. If you took the punch on the bone then it is even more likely. When the jaw bone fractures or break, the cavities into which the roots of teeth are interwoven and linked (Particularly the molars) will crack and teeth mave shift or be knocked out.

Go to the docters........maybe?

More hand next time?
Took me a minute to get that one!;D
Re: Ive injured my jaw.. advice?
Seriously, though. I have TMJ and about ten years ago I had to get my wisdom teeth removed because I was getting a lot of clicking in my jaw and I couldn't generate enough force to bit into an apple. You may just have to bite the bullet and see an oral surgeon.
But make sure you use hand.;D

Dave-did you tell your trainer you were hurt?
Go to the doctors or live of soup and learn sign language.
Re: Ive injured my jaw.. advice?
I injured my jaw about 3 months ago after I got caught with a hook. My jaw keeps clicking in and out of the joint near my ear when ever I open my mouth too much. I went to the Doctors and he basically said it is the joint slipping in and out of the socket but there is nothing he can do but I should consult my dentist. When I told my dentist they told me I need to see my Doctor so I just put up with it now but it is very annoying.

That's exactly what I get. I get clicking sometimes on the right side and if I open my mouth wide enough the ball-and-socket joint on the left slips out. It's uncomfortable as hell, but it doesn't hurt (the clicking does sometimes). I may be remembering wrong, but I think the oral surgeon who removed my wisdom teeth said the muscles on the right are a lot more tense than the left. I've made a conscious effort to chew more on the left, but I think it's because of this one tooth that's bothered me since just before my teens that I still have almost 20 years later. It discourages me from chewing over there.

Did you not have a mouthpiece when you were sparring?
