"The Contender" fighters

"The Contender" is easily my favorite show everytime the season is in progress. Besides the ones whose fights have been televised on a major or cable network program, I haven't kept up with everyone else.

The one's I know of are David Banks getting knocked out cold by Edison Miranda and two great upsets of the year so far: Brian Vera knocking out Andy Lee and Cornelius Bundrage's decision over Kassim Ouma. Also, Steve Forbes, who is currently training for a fight with Oscar De La Hoya. C'MON FORBES!!!

Anyone else have some updates on the other "Contenders?"

Alfonso Gomez has the Cotto fight coming up.
Sergio Mora has a WBC title fight lined up against Vernon Forrest at 154.

Together with Forbes-De La Hoya thats three quite high profile fights!

Less high profile, yet still possibly significant Ishe Smith is set to fight (read: get knocked out cold by) Joel Julio.

Sakio Bika is................................................ ..








Presumably spending all that money at Hungry Jacks for his wife. ;)

Since their appearances on the Contender;
Manfredo ate a lot.
Mora turned down a world title shot with Jermaine Taylor.
Forbes was robbed by Demetrius Hopkins.

Wow Mora is fighting Forrest ?? never knew that.

i hate it cause they don't show the actual whole fight, they try to make it like the rocky movie which is fxcking horrible.

I agree it's embarrassing especially considering the complete lack of talent of many of these guys.

Seeing Brent Cooper go slow motion to an orchestral score when being hit by the great Anthony Bonsante is like having a Dirty Dancing show with disgusting fatties :-X

I think it would be a far more exciting show if they called it "the prospect" and took some guys fresh from the amateurs or something.

That's so the casual fan will watch as well...if they showed the whole fight ratings would plummett...we are die hard fans and would not watch 80% of those guys on a card fight....Plus Stallone still does not realize that it is 2008 not 1988
