Quintana talked clearly and said "No Rematch"...
The rematch of Quintana and P.Williams is soo far of reality now. Due to the economic offer that presented the Goossen-Tutor Promotion not acomplished with the amount that Quintana wanted...He said that he don't going sign a rematch for the amount less than he received in the first fight that was $900,000.....
He sustained that the offer that they presented him was $300,000 and he don't have any inconvenient to fight Williams , but with that offer he don't going make it....
"If is for $300,000 , i will choose the damn rival , don't give a damn if is one armed or lame. The main problem was fighting cheap and now have bad costume......The fight with Williams isn't mandatory fight , if he want fight they have to pay...."said Quintana
He interest in the winner between Judah and Mosley , where now is repent of that rematch......
Huuuummmm , I think Quintana is really pissed off......
Do you guy think that this is fair?.........

Re: Quintana talked clearly and said "No Rematch"...
Well if its not mandatory and there was no rematch clause than I probably wouldnt fight him again either especially for less than the first fight. Quintana has proved himself on this level. I would like to see him fight the winner of Margarito-Cintron more than Zab or Mosley.
Re: Quintana talked clearly and said "No Rematch"...
It's not like he had any trouble beating Paul Williams, I think Quintana is right in this case.
Quintana is a top class fighter who would give anyone trouble...I would like to see him fight the winner of Mosley-Judah like he said. I am sure he'd like another shot at Cotto in the future as well
Re: Quintana talked clearly and said "No Rematch"...
If he's accurate in the offer made to him, of course Quintana is in the right.... Why the hell would he fight a guy he beat by a wide margin(for his title), for a third of what he made in the first fight, where he was given almost no chance that time. I mean to make less as a champion defending his title than he did as challenger for that belt is absurd, no fighter should accept that. I think Paul Williams needs to move up desperately anyways, making welter isn't going to get any easier..
Re: Quintana talked clearly and said "No Rematch"...
How the bollocks did he get paid nearly a million for a non ppv fight in a small building against a guy who is just about a prospect, not a major star, for an unimportant alphabet belt? Thats more than Kelly Pavlik got for the first Taylor fight (according to The Ring). Sounds like horse shite to me.

If 900k was his share of the purse agreed upon originally in the contract, you can bet that Quintana actually went home with nowhere near that much.. He still had to pay sanctioning fee's, his trainer, promoters, training expenses, TAXES, etc. I remember reading about Kelly Pavlik leaving his cheque in the hotel room, was for 6 or 700 grand I believe.. But that was all his, after all other expenses were dealt with. You can also bet Taylor made a lot more than he did for that fight... Maybe the Quintana Williams purse was more evenly split.. Carlos is supposedly very popular in Puerto Rico.
Re: Quintana talked clearly and said "No Rematch"...
The numbers are wrong. Williams got $900,000 for the first fight. Quintana only got $150,000. I don't blame him for asking for more. I think he'll beat Williams again

Ah, that does make more sense I guess, since Quintana didn't bring a lot to the table in the first fight.. If they fight again the purses should go almost entirely the other way, especially if there was no rematch clause. Williams needs Quintana a lot more than vice versa now.
Re: Quintana talked clearly and said "No Rematch"...
u shouldnt have to rematch someone u dominated, i didnt understand why there would even be a rematch, i guess quintana figured hed make decent money if he rematched williams but to offer him less then the first fight is nonsense

Which also supports my belief that Wladimir Klitschko shouldn't fight Sam Peter again, it's only going to be a bigger ass whuppin

It's a bit different, as Wlad didn't exactly dominate Sam Peter, he was down 3 times himself(though I do feel only once legitimately, he still shouldn't have gone down from those rabbit punches). He was hurt in the fight though. Also, the HW division doesn't exactly carry much depth, therefore Peter is still likely the biggest established threat to Wlad. For Quintana there's a dozen guys he could fight who are just as good as Williams.
Re: Quintana talked clearly and said "No Rematch"...
I am happy for Quintana to stand his ground on this issue, he won decisively against Williams the first time in a fight not many people thought he would win, now he wants the money that he has earned the right to ask for, more power to him i say! He should fight the winner of Margo/Cintron and then go for Cotto again.
Re: Quintana talked clearly and said "No Rematch"...
I totally agree with Quintana, that offer seems kind of ridiculous for that type of fight and after clearly beating Williams. I would say disrespecful in certain way for Quintana.
My friend, just keep training and wait for better things.

While the depth of the division part may be true....Wlad did DOMINATE Sam Peter. Sam barely won the rounds where Wlad did get knocked down, that screams of beat down to me
Re: Quintana talked clearly and said "No Rematch"...
If the money ain't right I think Quintana should look towards the Mosley/ Judah winner. He'd get a bigger payday plus better exposure! The Margarito/ Cintron winner would also be another good option. I say make Williams earn his way back to a rematch especially if the was no return clause!
