I think Steve Molitor is Canada's best fighter
Even with Lucian Bute, Ngdoujougooumooufoousoo whatever, and Jean Pascal I think Steve Molitor is Canada's best fighter.
For those of you who don't know who he is, Steve is a 122 pound southpaw who is undefeated, a good athlete with top of the line technique and stamina. He is starting to rack up decent opponents. He's not the hardest puncher, but he punches like Wright and opponents can't just walk through what he throws. I think he is better than Bute personally, and I hope that he is ready for Vazquez or Marquez, but its hard to say seeing as he hasn't foughten anyone near those two in terms of skill or talent.
Re: I think Steve Molitor is Canada's best fighter
I've been a fan of his for a while. Not watched his fight with Beltran yet, downloading it now.
But he's looked outstanding against Hunter, Fashan Battery, Castillo etc.
My one questionmark over him is his chin, and how his face will hold up to a big puncher in terms of cuts.
He's not yet been in with a real puncher but he has been tagged a couple times.
I'm not sure whether he could hang with the likes of Vazquez and Marquez just yet but he's the future of the division no doubt.
I'd just like to see him fight a big puncher next.
Re: I think Steve Molitor is Canada's best fighter
I've seen his last 4 fights, and I'm a big fan of his. He's fast, he throws great combinations from the outside, his defense is awesome, and he's has an exciting style. He's definately Canada's best fighter, I'm not impressed by Pascal. Njoudju is good, and so is Bute, but I think Bute considers himself more Romanian than Canadian. Plus, they're from Quebec so I would consider them more Quebecois fighters than Canadian (the Quebec gov't at one point, it still might, wanted to have its own hockey team to compete at the Olympics instead of being part of the Canadian team), as opposed to Molitor who is from Ontario.
However, his chin is still a question as it hasn't really been tested too much, and that fact that he has been cuts in the same bad spot, his eyelid, in his last two fights in concerning. He also doesn't fight very well on the inside, he always tries to tie up his opponents. That could be BIG trouble against a Vasquez or a Marquez.
I think he's great though, and I feel if he had any power he POTENTIALLY could be a future P4P'er.

I agree, I'd love to see him dismantle De Leon. I'd be on the edge of my seat the whole time though because of De Leon's power.

Quebec is definitely part of Canada. It wouldn't survive without us.

Quebec or Canada wouldn't survive without the other? I think Quebec would be just fine without Canada, but if Quebec left Canada I think the West would possibly soon follow.
Edit: I should say that I think both could potentially also be able to exist as seperate countries as well though, Quebec leaving would just raise a bunch of issues out west.

What about Joachim Alcine? I have never seen him fight, but he is the WBA Jr. Middleweight Champ.

I've seen his twice, once on ESPN (I think) and I saw part of his fight with Simms. I don't remember alot about him really, just the I found the Simms fight really boring. A lot of grappling and stuff if I recall correctly, it was an ugly fight.

Is the domestic scene in Canada strong?
Re: I think Steve Molitor is Canada's best fighter
Molitor is amazing, the first time I saw him was against Michael Hunter, I was very impressed with how smart he was in the ring. I don't think he would have a chance against Vazquez or Marquez this minute though.

I believe Montreal has a pretty good scene, but outside of that it's pretty sparse.

He needs to become a more well-rounded fighter before he takes on either one of them. He's good when he controls the distance, but he doesn't seem to like to fight on the inside at all.
Re: I think Steve Molitor is Canada's best fighter
They should match him against DPDL. I think De Leon is not that comfortable fighting southpaws.

Hi.Steve Molitor is a very good southpaw boxer. He has great talent!I remember watching him live over here in the North-East of England(Hartlepool)back in 10th of November 2006 when he fought my on form hero Micky Hunter for the IBF title shot.He took down Hunter in the 5th round.Molitor is a VERY fast southpaw.Iwish him luck in the future!I'd like to see him do well!:)
