Wlad Klitschko - Tony Thompson July 12th + Wlad and Vitaly on same fall card

It seems that the IBF has now permitted Wlad Klitschko to defend both is IBF and his WBO title against WBO madatory Tony Thompson next. The fight is scheduled for July 12th in Color Line Arena in Hamburg.

IMO the logical and right way to go. I do think Wlad will win, but Tony has earned his shot, and it is a fight that will cement Wlad's position as the HW king.

Now what may be more interesting - or at least it was news to me - is the rumours that preparations are in order for a duel headliner in Berlin this fall with Wlad against Povetkin and Vitaly against Sam Peter. That certainly would be an interesting night - and a night that might, just might, instigate some interest in this divsion again. (In a perfect world Peter would knock Vitaly out, leaving us - and the casual fan - with a mouthwatering match-up in a Wlad-Peter rematch).

It will never happen. Wlad and Vitali make so much money just by them selves that it would be a huge waste of money to put them on the same card.
