Satanta..the home of live boxing?
...Well, so the adds say!
Im a bit annoyed now that live boxing is on three channels, two of which are quite pricey!
Im very tempted to subscribe to Setanta but £120 a year plus a £10 set up fee is steep!
I already subscribe to Sky, I love cricket and boxing but not that keen on footy lately!
Is Setanta worth it? Do you have to pay the set up fee, are there any discounts?
Help me out?

It's not Satanta, it's Sultana.
Re: Satanta..the home of live boxing?
I've subscribed to Setantas online service so I can watch via broadband.
It costs £7.99 a month with no contract, set up fee or other charges. Plus you can cancel at any time.
It really depends how your house is set up but for me its ideal. I've got a nice 24 Inch widescreen monitor and my computer is in my bedroom so I can watch them in bed, which is where I'd want to watch them anyway.
Best of all for me though is that as its a broadband account I can use my laptop and log in and watch fights wherever I happen to be.
It's meant I've been able to spend a couple weekends with my mum a while back and still stay up and watch the big fights.
Picture quality is good as well, especially if you have an 8 meg connection.
It's worth considering if you have a pc setup where you watch movies or telly on it anyway.
Re: Satanta..the home of live boxing?
I may get it today!!
How are you guys going to watch the Calzagie fight if you dont get this station (that I cant spell!)?

If you like top class boxing and live in the UK you got to have satanta sports.
Re: Satanta..the home of live boxing?
Hmmm?!
I'm not sure now. The connection charge has gone up to fifteen pounds for the next two week! Why? Cos of the big fights! Talk about exploiting an event!
Re: Satanta..the home of live boxing?
It is worth it. I get it through Virgin Cable and they are the best channel for boxing at the moment. If you love boxing then that is the channel to subscribe especially as Warren has signed a deal with them:-\. They showed the past fights of Cotto v Mosely and Judah and they also have some football from the premier league so it is worth it in the long run. They will also show the Lockett fight v Pavlik.

yeah but whats it like on recording tho? i mean i record a lot of the late boxing as if i stay up to wtahc them i always end up fucked for owrk monday
Re: Satanta..the home of live boxing?
It actually helps my sleep for the week. I stay up all night on the adrenaline of watching the fights and go to sleep at 5 or 6 dependent what time the fight finishes. Then get up at 10 or 11, play football and sleep like a baby Sunday night.

Ok buddy, I have had alot of issues since I subscribed to Setanta so I'll give you the benefit of my knowledge. Firstly, under no circumstances should you buy Setanta on Freeview for boxing as small print tells you they cut it off at 3am, so you won't see any live boxing on the channel that isn't screened at British time. Secondly, make sure it works before you give your card details over the phone, because they will tell you it hasn't gone through when it has. The guy was ready to put the phone down once the transaction was complete until I asked "what channel does it appear on and how will I know its worked..." I spent 30 mins trying to work it out with the guy when he claimed the reason it wasn't working was Sky's fault. Once you get around all the issues, the coverage is pretty decent but I would also say the £10 a month isn't worth hearing Steve Bunce go on...and on...and on...
Re: Satanta..the home of live boxing?
I got it yesterday and was quite impressed with the coverage.
Even though little Barry got distracted by Whitney Houston!!lol
I like Steve Bunce, he's passionate about boxing and we need more people like that!
I was a tad annoyed after subscribing to Setanta at £10 per month, i got an automated phone call asking my to subscribe for £5 per month for the first three months!!
Oh and Im also enjoying the IPL Cricket!
