As much as I'm rooting for Joe,we should all credit B Hop
Yeah B Hop is dirty, yeah he may not be exciting but this guy is a genius. He's in his 40s,a world champ and top 10 P4P fighter.Thats INCREDIBLE. People talk about MAB refining his style, B Hop has refined himself even more,he was a killer in his younger days and is now a tactical genius. His defence is amazing. He nullifies all his opponents strengths. He always manages to find a way to win by hoo or by crook.
I'm saying this and I won't lie,I'm not a fan of Bernards at all. I find his tactics distasteful and even embaressing for a 40 year old.I'l be rooting for Joe non stop but for B Hop to remain at the top for as long as he has is amazing. We can dissect his resume but he's fought and beaten the guys put in front of him. Names like Johnson,Tarver,Tito,Oscar,Winky are all good names to have. I don't like him but I respect him.
Re: As much as I'm rooting for Joe,we should all credit B Hop
I don't like him and I think he gets too much credit for beating smaller guys.
His standard of performance is impressive though, given his age. He has proved himself as a great athlete no denying that.

Hopkins has a good story and is entertaining (sort of) to listen too.. just a shame he's such a boring ugly fighter.
He deserves credit for taking the fight at his age, I guess, but remember EVERYTHING is in his favour and it's basically a no lose fight for him.
Re: As much as I'm rooting for Joe,we should all credit B Hop
I'll give Hopkins Respect as well as Calzaghe.Any boxer climbing in the ring at the age of 43 for 12 possible rounds deserves respect :bow:man!Should be a great fight!;D
Re: As much as I'm rooting for Joe,we should all credit B Hop
I have a lot of respect for him as well.
I think it's fine for great fighters, after they begin to age and don't have anything more to prove, take fights that are purely for entertainment.
ie. Jones vs Trinidad... Neither of them have anything to prove anymore, but they are getting back in the ring for themselves and for fans.. It's a great thing..
Although Hopkins has done it all and has nothing more to prove,, he's still proving a LOT by continueing to take these fights!
It will only add to the memory of him having a champion attitude and fighting the best, right down to the very end of his career!
Re: As much as I'm rooting for Joe,we should all credit B Hop
Hop is the man but I'm leary to root for him as every sigle fighter I root for favored or not losses when I root for them... I'm a jinx;D
I love his attitude...
Everyone who rants and raves that "how he acts is dispicable!" Chill out.
I thought it was hilarious when he said he'd never let a "white boy" beat him.
Stop being so God damned politically correct and take it for what it's for... Friggin entertainment. Go watch figure skating if you don't like it. I'm sure Brian Boytano would love all of you as fan.
Re: As much as I'm rooting for Joe,we should all credit B Hop
If he was deadset on being an exciting fighter he wouldn't even be here, he's 43 years old, he's not gonna be a volume puncher. That being said even as a longtime fan he's a bit hard to watch these days. But its still amazing what he does at his age.
He was a killer at one point, very exciting fighter, I've actually been watching some of his pre-Tito fights lately and he was ruthless. Its just a lot of people only took notice after Tito and hence think he's always been a boring fighter.

I find it strange how most everybody thinks he is a boring fighter. I find his style quite entertaining. He's sort of like a suspense movie, where as Calzaghe is like a Action flick.

That's a fair point..
.. though for a guy in your position you really don't understand just how boring Hopkins is.. to appreciate his boringness you have to experience staying up till gone 4am everytime the old bastard fights. At that time of the morning watching someone throw as minimal amount of punches as possible and make fights as ugly as humanly possible tends to stifle the enjoyment factor ;)

Unlucky man, what medication are you on for that?
Although to be fair the old fossil can't be entirely to blame for that one.. Eastman can be as bad as Hopkins for sleep-inducing jobs.
