Hopkins and people who think he won: DELUSIONAL
Let me start by saying that I had $50 on Hopkins at $3.50 on Ladbrokes.
Hopkins didn't win that fight. Go back 7 or 8 years and maybe he could have beat Joe but he couldn't do it tonight for one reason only - he doesn't have the stamina to fight all night anymore.
After a rocky start where he probably lost 3 of the first 4 including a 10-8, Joe took over the fight with his superior fitness and combination punching. Bernard has never been hit that often before. He was looking for breathers late in the fight, hence the ridiculous reaction to the soft low blows. He was even complaining about a blow to the back of the head in the 11th when he rabbit punched all night.
Hopkins said he took Calzaghe to school. He did - for 4 rounds, then he got an education himself: that his workrate at 43 is sadly lacking.
So to the knockers - deal with it. The better man won tonight and it will go down as one of the great wins by a British fighter ever.
And to Hopkins - you are one of the best ever, but a little humility never hurt anyone.

Being A Supporter does not make you "Delusional"The shot was technically low....how Hopkins gained an advantage may not be picture perfect but he exploited it to benefit In the truest sense .
Re: Hopkins and his supporters: DELUSIONAL
So far I only see 2 or 3 of 'em.
I had Calzaghe ahead by 3 points in 11th round.
Re: Hopkins and his supporters: DELUSIONAL
Yep, the shot was, Spicoli - but taking time out to recover from a shot that wasn't that damaging is not in the spirit of the sport.
Look at Tszyu against Hatton in Manchester - that low blow was hard as hell, Tszyu took a little time and kept battling.
Then again when has the 'win at all costs even if it puts people to sleep' mentality of Hopkins ever been in the spirit of the game??
Supporters, by definition, are not delusional. Just supporters who think Hopkins won.

Hopkins did the smartest thing he was tired so he took 3 minutes to get his 2nd wind and he ended up winning that round IMO so it was very clever move.
Re: Hopkins and his supporters: DELUSIONAL
Yep, he did the smart thing. Can't argue with that.

You're not one of them. But TysonBruno and Deliris are, and I'm sure there's more. The thread starter need to edit the thread topic cuz he's stereotyping a bit.
But honestly bro,...
Who do you think won the fight?

Look what happened to Kostya :-X;D,,,Hopkins has not really been concerned by what the masses thought since his last parole hearing:-X
The true delusional you can count on one hand,no robberys here Imo...Very close fight with many opines here and seeing Hopkins up by a nick does not mean you are inept.

That's cool thanks for the thought. Well given what he's paid you would think he'd get the models. Did you have a good time at the brother in laws?
Re: Hopkins and people who think he won: DELUSIONAL
Very good posting Greig. I agree completely.
I think it was a convincing JC win. Hopkins was competitive in the opening 4 and I was actually getting very anxious wondering when on earth Joe would get to work. But he did get to work and was coming on superbly down the stretch. Nobody except Jones Jr has fought Hopkins down the stretch in such a manner.
Hopkins should learn to give credit where it is due.

Exactly, I was laughing because I guarantee that was like a Get Out Of Jail Free card in the mind of Hopkins who needed a rest and took it within the boundaries of the rules. Did it please the fans? No but Hopkins couldn't give a fuck about the fans especially the ones in the building tonight.
I can see both sides of the argument, it depends on what you value more, clean punching or volume punching. Bernard clearly landed the better shots throughout the night but Calzaghe's output was high. That's basically what every round boiled down to. I've got no problem with Hopkins winning, 116-111 seems a bit excessive but when you have a lot of close rounds it doesn't take much for that scorecard to get inflated.

It wasn't on on Setanta mate. It's crap really, the rest of the world got to enjoy that fight not on PPV, but we had to cough up $50. It was on regular Setanta and HBO in the UK and the States and in Australia, where you think they'd be wanting to build their audience, we have to for out.
Went to the pub instead. Had fun, lot of Welsh nutters there;D
