~Boxing Talk~ (NON-related to Hop-Joe)
Alright I crated this thread, to talk boxing that is NOT related talk to Hopkins-Joe.
Just finished watching Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez fight.
Kid looks OK, still needs to work on somethings. Would like to see his defense improve. He's not a 1 punch KO guy but he has heavy hands and with some hard work and dedication the kids got a shot.
I was reading the report and watched some footage of the Sebastian Zbik fight. Guy looks good fought well and stepped up in class. Moves well but lacks power especially in the Middlweight Div. where it's needed with todays guys.
Highly decorated amateur turned pro Sebastian Kober, won a UD yesterday to move onto 14-0 record. At times Kober looks a bit sloppy then he turns it up. I don't think he'll reach World Class but is someone who makes noise out in Germany due to his accomplishments.
WBA Welterweight Interim Champ Yuriy Nuzhnenko, fought to a lousy Draw yesterday. For those of you who haven't noticed this it looks like the WBA has done it again and appointed Yuriy the Interim champ. But yet, Cottos never been offered the fight nore has the fight even been brought up. Anyway Yuriy was given an opponent for which he would show off his skills the guy was 16-3 and the fight was stopped and they went to the scorecards after 10 rounds.
Anyone else got any news?

;D Nice change of pace Mick.May be a number of days late but One that got under the radar and stood out to me up & coming Cruiserweight Eric Fields 11-1 (9) getting rope a dopped and Stopped by Ola Ofalabi 21-1-3 (5) in a descent upset for A minor Trinket.
I actually liked Fields from what I had seen, good Amateur pedigree ,nice fluidity and speed accompanied with finishing ability. He blitzed returning Kelvin Davis in rapid fashion in his last outing before a TV audience but Seemingly ran out of gas, suffering three KD's and Succumbing to The little known Ofalabi(?) ,who himself had previously been inactive for 2 and a half YEARS.

Well I just can't wait for the Judah - Mosley fight

Thanks for that Spicoli.... I did read about that.
And as you can see from all the replies it is a nice change of pace.

Re: ~Boxing Talk~ (NON-related to Hop-Joe)
I forgot to mention that 'Canelo' Alvarez is only 17 yrs. old.
Re: ~Boxing Talk~ (NON-related to Hop-Joe)
Thx Mick!
Zbik will lose the minute he step up in class (and/or out of Germany). He arguably lost to Fawaz Nasir already, and he isnt exactly world class either.
In (yet another) battle of old men on Saturday, Calzaghe-victim Evans Ashira knocked out Trinidad-victim Thiam in the 6th. I havent seen the fight, which was staged in Denmark (Ashira's adopted country), but supposedly it was a good scrap, both men firing away. I've always liked Ashira personally, and at 154 - where he is now figthing - he could actually make decent waves. Problem is he's 37 or thereabouts. A few years ago (or 10) Thiam too was a great European class fighter (he will always be remembered here for the way he tore Michael Rask apart), but he hasnt won a fight in a couple of years, and should probably not attempt any more comebacks.

Thank you for the reply man.
I just wanted to read something else and talk about other stuff then just the Joe-Hopkins fight. I've said what I've had to say about it and it seems like everyone and their mom is bitchin' about one thing or another. I just got tired of reading the same things over and over.
I've only seen Zbik twice now and I agree I don't see him at the top.

I noticed this fight but didn't come across any news on it. Thanks for the update/report on it.

I'm with you all the way on this one. As for Zbik - well, he is a far cry from the top 3 German Middleweights imo (Abraham, Sturm, Sylvester), and if you include fighters fighting out of Germany, there's got to be at least 5-7 middleweights ahead of him (Golovkin is one to watch out for in this regard). As for world level - not a chance.
He does have a chance of making a decent all-German payday, I suppose.
Oh, and I'd like to rep you back, but I need to spread it around first :)
