leftylee is an amateur football referee.
Believe it or not for the past couple of weeks I've been refereeing various young kids football matches and tournaments and I'm enjoying it.
Not only do I get paid but it keeps me fit and it's good being the bastard in the black for once instead of playing it. I've got a match lined up this Saturday morning. I'm currently looking at getting referee certificates from the FA (Football Association) and I have sent off my detaills:
TheFA.com - Referee
Last week at some tournament some kid took round the keeper and the defender punched the ball over the bar  I gave a penalty and he pretended he headed it over, silly cunt. You can feel the pressure though sometimes especially when all their Mums and Dads are watching from the sidelines, so far I haven't messed up and let's hope it stays that way ;D
It's a great experience though.

Ack, well I'm glad you are enjoying it. I have refereed a few American football games which wasn't entirely bad except for the fact that it was just boring as the kids were like 6 and the helmets and shoulder pads are way to big for all them. It wasn't bad though.
Little league umpiring was bbbaaadddd. For my High School community service Freshman year I helped out my little brother's team and umpired a few games and that was a nightmare. Whether it was the stupid ass parents questioning me every other pitch about their stupid scorecard that half of them didn't even keep right. Or the 1 million times I heard "Come on Blue, that's a strike", better yet the coach who offered to give me money out of the snack shack register to give his team a better shake.
That was a nightmare I have never hated an obligation more and I love baseball.

My dad's a ref, has been for years, ref'd england under 21's but I think it always niggles him that when it came down to it he was just too old to ref full internationals.
Good luck.:)
