Seeking wise posters for shoulder problems =]
Okay so here goes in the hope that someone here (As im sure a few do) might know how to deal with my problems..or have had the same problem and sorted it..
So in short i keep hurting my shoulders.. I throw shots and basically what i think is happening is im actually overreaching and temporarily bringing my arm out the shoulder joint.. and its happened with both shoulders.. and also to describe it it kinda feels like it comes out the joint.. and when it comes back in.. traps a nerve.. its real painful.. i usually end up going down due to it..
and cant use the shoulder at least for the rest of a round if not a couple days..
its like i overreach and it always happens when i miss a shot..
At first i had it when i would back pedal of stand of and try ptshot a strait right.. But then it happened to the left when i threw a right and missed following up with a left hook.. the left hook seemed worse because as i fell i sorta felt like it was dangling out of place and popped back in while i was on the floor.. but they both hurt and i couldnt afford for it to happen during a fight.. so when sparring it makes me have to be cautious and limit shots i throw..
Any help, experiances remedies would be much appreciated
Stay blessed

I couldnt be stuffed going throiugh the why or how again in one day;
Read the (knee injury post by Shamrock) for that please.
Shoulders :
Represent our abilty to carry out experiences in all of life joyously.
We make it a burdon on ourselves by our attitude.
Write down and Read "aloud" to yourslef as often as you can;
First thing in morning is best, have it hanging next to the mirror or your bed.
"I now choose to allow all my experiences to be joyous and loving".
That is a massage from your mind directly to your shoulders.
Your feelings will also catch up ,then you'll run correctly and healing will be permament and faster.
Re: Seeking wise posters for shoulder problems =]
Been there.
The shoulder is both a powerful joint and a vulnerable one.
First, any lack of synovial fluid will cause pain in the shoulder region.
Synovial fluid development can be promoted by taking fish oil supplements, or codliver oil.
Another issue may be the amount of Cartilage on the end of your bones. Tis can be depleted easily in boxing. Look into a product called MSM Tripleflex.
Weights can help. With good form and the correct excercise future dislocations can be prevented. These excercises are simple and only demanding in terms of patience.
Your technique must be addressed also. If your injuring yourself regularly performing a manouevre, something is wrong. You need to review your technique and repair whatever your malady is. Switch hitters often have problems with the shoulders, knees and hips as they jerk from position to position.
This should prevent future problems.
Sauna's a re a great way to relieve injury pain. I'd also recommend acupuncture.

Re: Seeking wise posters for shoulder problems =]
Correct technique is vital when boxing and doing weights for the health of your shoulder if you have problems. Incorrect technique when benchpressing for example puts pressur on the ligaments in your shoulder and you can develope something an old gym instructor told me called loose shoulders, where the ligaments have been stretched making the joint more vulnerable to dislocation. I don't actually bother with heavy weights any more, but I do some strengthening using resistance bands and light weights. Strengthening the muscles around a joint will take a little of the burden off the ligaments themselves and usually helps, but you need to make sure you retain the suppleness of the muscles with stretching, otherwise they will become susceptible to injury themselves opening a whole new can of worms.

Its not even technique, says the guy with the blown rotator cuff,I throw my shots perfectly
Re: Seeking wise posters for shoulder problems =]
Could be 100 things...I doubt it is over extension if it is happening in both shoulders..
Could be from something in the back (Spinal area disc etc) or a pinched nerve you will be surprised how something compressed or out of place could effect you...
Were you ever a weight lifter? If so how long ago and if you were a weight lifter did you do any type of cardio that you used your arms in a fashion in which you used full rotation? If the shoulder is not used to the movement it may just be a strain and fixed by taking time off and doing shadow boxing with light weights (first without weight then try 1 or 2lb) so the shoulder can adjust to the variation of movement.
Do you streatch before sparring or hitting the bag? Not shadow box but streatch...not to say you do not know what you are doing because I have never seen you workout but some people do not understand the difference...
Are you warmed up fully before boxing?...Does it only happen when you throw certain punches? EG when you miss a hook/uppercut?...Ever had shoulder problems like this before?
Something easy to help narrow it down...When this happens how do you help the pain?...If you use heat/be-gay etc and it helps more then likely it is muscle or nerve problem...If they do not help there is a chance it has to do with the bones or shoulder sockets themselves...
Go to your doctor and explain the problem and if it is real sever request a ct or MRI so it does not spill over into everyday movement...

The shoulder is not a joint, there lies the problem.
