Aside from ESPN and other fights...
... It's a pretty slow summer.
Thank god for Margarito and Cotto. If it weren't for them, the premier fights would be pretty low in the excitment area. Plenty of mismatches and "comebacks" and... you get the picture.
What do you guys think? Lets talk about this summer, fight wise.
Re: Aside from ESPN and other fights...
I think the hope that 2008 would be better than 2007 won't prove to be true. But there are some good matches, Judah vs. Mosley should be entertaining. This saturday has some good prospects on HBO against good competition.
Chris Byrd vs. Shaun George should be good, be interesting to see how much Byrd's power improves at 175.
Re: Aside from ESPN and other fights...
Yeah I agree, there isn't much lined up for the summer is there. Few fights I'm looking forward to coming up, Mijares Munoz will be great, and I'm personally looking forward to Judah Mosley next weekend. But Margarito Cotto really will be the fight to see over the next few months.
Re: Aside from ESPN and other fights...
2 rematches I'm looking forward to are Arthur Abraham vs Edison Miranda and Kendall Holt vs Ricardo Torres. Daniel Deleon vs Juan Manuel Lopez really has my attention. As does Forrest vs Mora. I'm looking forward to seeing Mora get smashed
Re: Aside from ESPN and other fights...
It always seems to me that the best fights are in the Spring and Fall. I don't know if any sort of factual evidence backs this up but when I missed basically a whole fall of boxing for school, it seemed like I missed everything.

Aside from Margo-Cotto, those are the fights that I am most eagerly anticipating. I think Abraham beats a weight-drained Miranda (again) and I think that Holt should be able to outbox Torres. I have no idea who's going to win the De Leon - Lopez fight though. Forrest is going to mangle Mora, and while I'm hoping that Mora finds a way to win (an unpopular opinion, I know) I just don't see that fight ending in any other way than a stoppage victory for Forrest.
Re: Aside from ESPN and other fights...
Really looking forward to Kess comeback, it's long overdue and hes making me look bad right now. I'm trying hard to defend him but it gets harder and harder to do so.... :-\
I'm also looking forward to BCDs next fight, it should be a stellar one.
Solis vs. Donaire is a very interesting match up
Gamboa vs. Jimenez should tell us a lot
Barrios vs. Juarez is interesting because it's a crossroads fight to me
Arreola vs. Chazz is gonna make 'em fight
Mijares vs. Munoz is a mouth watering fight
And from all the fights I'm most looking forward to....
Calderon vs. Cazares II
Re: Aside from ESPN and other fights...
I really looking forward for this summer :
The rematch of Quintana vs Williams and Vernon Forrest vs Sergio Mora , in Jun 7
The Fight between Juanma Lopez vs Ponce d`Leon and Kelly Pavlik vs Gary Lockett , in Jun 7
Mario "El Pricipe" Santiago vs Steven Luevano , in Jun 28 in the same under card fight with Manny Paquiao vs David Diaz
The fight between Miguel Cotto vs Margarito in Jul 26
And the rematch between Ivan Calderon vs Hugo Cazares probably in August...........................all those fight and others will going to be an excite fight in this summer................:D
Re: Aside from ESPN and other fights...
So the next exciting matchup is Judah Mosley?
Yeah, I'll watch that. How many rounds is Mosley going to keep Judah around, any bets? ;D
I wouldn't be surprised if it goes to a decision either. If Judah keeps fighting, he'll have 10 hall of famers on his resume! :D
I'm sorry, I just can't get excited about Vernon Forrest or Sergio.
Quintana looks good though, would love to see him defeat pitter-patter Williams.
I'm not a Calderon fan AT ALL!!!!
Chris Byrd is FINALLY fighting at a smaller weight class! Wow. I didn't know that.
But it does sound like a 'comeback ploy,' to give hope to him and his viewers that he still has hope to keep fighting. I've always supported Byrd, but he never was able to take it past his limits. I think most middleweights hit harder than him.
Pacquiao needs to fight someone who's a threat to him. One more fight like this and he's on his way to becoming a "pound for pound Mayweather" type fighter.
Juarez ... ... woah, I just fell asleep!
Mijares is great. Donaire, the younger one, is B@D@SS!
These are great matchups, but nothing that transcends the matchup itself,
except when Cotto's going to get knocked down, THAT will be this summer's exciting moment. ;D

Those are great fights. I'm looking forward to Calderon-Cazares as well. Hopefully the winner fights Solis
Re: Aside from ESPN and other fights...
