Yea pretty amazing Gomez is one of my favorite fighters at the lower weights, and i expect you to be a very big fan as well, considering he is fellow Puerto Rican. But that is amazing stat i was just watching Gomez vs Zarate again and i was curious to see the stats and when i see them my mouth was wide open, i've never seen such high KO percentage in a Championship fight of that caliber.
Re: Two Of The Biggest Punchers Who Faced Eachother.
You may well laugh at this one but VITALI KLITSCHKO v HERBIE HIDE
Vitali had 24 Ko's from 24 fights
Hide had 29Ko's from 31 fights with one loss (BOWE)

Oh yeah.... huge fan of Gomez also. But I didn't realize Zarate ended his career with such a high KO ratio himself. Speaks volumes of the achievement it was for Gomez to KO Zarate. Zarate had a key victory on the way up against a great, fellow Mexican fighter... Alfonso Zamora. That was also a battle of unbeatens.

His fight with Zamora was awesome a Thomas Hearns vs Marvin Hagler type of war if its the right fight im thinking of, is that the fight where some guy in the crowd comes into the ring with only his underpants on or something like that ??

I have to admit I've never been able to see that fight. But I'm told the buildup to the fight was huge, considering it matched two great, unbeaten Mexican fighters against one another. They should show it on ESPN Classic.

Man, that was awesome! Zarate took some tremendous shots from Zamora, but Zamora just looked too small for Zarate. And yeah... (LOL)... I see what you mean about the guy in the underpants crashing the party. He's lucky the cops just threw him out of the ring. I would've let either Zarate or Zamora beat the crap out of him.
Re: Two Of The Biggest Punchers Who Faced Eachother.
Lewis-Vitali
Wlad-Sam Peter

Your last three are the best on your list.

You got it, this has to be highest KO % of any two fighters who have met, although Zarate's record at the time suggests he was knocking out busboys!
Gomez certainly did a number on him though!

You'd think so. And I'm sure there were a few busboys scattered in that record. But watch the Zarate-Zamora fight, and you'll see classic boxing at its best. Zarate was for real.
