Finally Got Round To Seeing Jorge Barrios vs Acelino Freitas.

Great fight i remember CutMeMick recommending this fight to me and im glad he did. The exchanges were brutal but sloppy as hell but very entertaining to watch. One question what did you guys think of that punch Freitas landed right at the end of the 11th ?? i personally thought it was half second before the bell rung, but a lot of people have made a lot of that and consider it very controversial whats your opinions ??

It was a great fight...one of the first ones I got my friends to watch and I told them Frietas was a heavy handed fighter and could end it at anytime (after feeling like a fucking idiot for 10 rounds) Acelino finally got around to doing his thing!

It was a hell of a KO and what did you think of Barrios wiping his face off on the ref????


I liked it and I expected more from Frietas in the future but he never did anything after that fight....neither has Barrios and I expected more from him too.


I would have LOVED to see Frietas-Hatton or Frietas-Casamayor II or even Frietas-Campbell...or Frietas-Pacquiao or Barrios-Pacquiao or Barrios-Guzman II

I watched this fight with my brother one of my favorite boxing memories ever. We knew nothing about either guy just remember making fun of the name Popo but damn that was one hell of a fight. The punch was a split second after the bell I was surprised they called it a knockdown but how stunning was that? I mean Barrios had this incredible round and then just froze with his legs apart it was shocking and then of course it ended in the 12th. Great fight great fight. I hate that Freitas gets such the bad rap that he does as far as quitting because of how great this fight was.

Actually your right about the knockdown at the end of the 11th, i just re watched the round and it was indeed half a second after the bell. Plus Barrios was caught coming in as well which made the punch even worse.

He brought that on himself though...it's kind of ridiculous to be a power puncher AND a pretty boy the way Frietas is...I think he could have made some noise at 140. And Barrios has done NOTHING since losing to Frietas

I think he has tried but its just not happened for him has he..

i mean he was sposed to fight recently.. Jaurez? was it..?

Thats a step in the right direction.. i think he would win that fight.. and its all just names and wins until more title shots and big fights.. He could be back up there with two big performances easy..

But im not sure if it was barrios or juarez with injury problems... Think prob barrios

Very underrated fight...

One of my fav. fights to see on my I-Pod...

You could put Barrios in you brave performance thread ICB, he had a huge gash and if I remember he wanted to keep going when they stopped it.

What an outstanding 11th round.

People are probably a little harsh on Freitas cause of the quit jobs. He just didn't have the kind of Diego Corrales mentality of go out on your sword live or die type thing when it came to boxing. Doesn't mean he was a coward IMO, he did show guts in fights like this one.He's probably sitting around Brazil rich balling his hot, somewhat unstable wife. They all love him there too, doubt he's too worried about internet fans calling him a coward.

Yeah no kidding although I think he divorced his wife but I remember during that telecast they said they televised his wedding and it was one of the biggest events in Brazilian TV history.
