Havn't heard much since they've been in talks. I know these things take a while to iron out but has anyone heard anything? Havn't been able to find any updates recently.
I know for most people it's not a fight they want to see but I truely believe if Roy has his night and brings the magic, he'll do Calzaghe. A tighter defence, great counter punching and the power he showed in the Trinidad fight will give Calzaghe's wide slapping with no defence style hell IMO
Any news?
Last i heard, on Saturday, Dan Rafael of ESPN.COM/Boxing reported that talks had cooled down.
Jones is probably up to his old games. Plus Don King is probably involved, and he never makes things easy.
I think Jones needs Joe more then Joe needs him and he should take the fight for a modest purse.
I heard Warren wants options on Jones. Jones ain't having that. I don't blame him.
Warren and King involved means its never going to be easy, I'd prefer if
Calzaghe fought Froch/Taylor then had one last fight against Pavlik
To be honest no offense here but i don't really care what the latest on Calzaghe vs Jones is. Jones is one of my favorites and it would be a shame to see him lose to Calzaghe when i would have bet all the money i have in the world on a prime Jones beating Calzaghe. Calzaghe needs to fight a young upcoming fighter like Dawson or Pavlik IMO.
Well thats your opinion. Something inside me says Roy Jones still has the skills to do Calzaghe over. I'm in 2 minds though...i'd be pissed off if Calzaghe took Roy's scalp because years from now you'll have fan boys talking shit about Joe being better than Roy because he beat him...but another part of me wants a smug Joe Calzaghe to be humbled by somebody that he obviously see's as an easy target. I believe Roy can still do it. Would be a great end to Roy Jones' legendary career too.Quote:

Ive had loads of debates about Joe and Jones. I rate Joe higher than jones but prime for prime i would say Jones wins.
I think Calzaghe knows this.

Roy Jones doesn't have the legs anymore. Its not that hard to see.
Calzaghe would stop Jones Jnr who is all but shot. I know they say that great fighters can have one great fight left in them but I think Jones is to far down the other side of the hill.
In both primes I would have picked Jones. At this stage of their careers though and with Joe fighting possibly his last fight and in Wales I see Joe pulling of a late stoppage win.

I think they are holding out to see how Pavlik looks in two weeks.
