Hatton vs Lazcano: 10Th RD
Hatton caught a break yesterday with that ref. That was just ridiculous how the ref stopped the action to give Lazcano a long lecture when he had Hatton badly hurt. Then what does he do next? He stops the action even longer to get Rickys shoes tied.
What a crock!!!

This just might be your best post ever. I agree. The ref was a disgrace in the fight
Re: Hatton vs Lazcano: 10Th RD
I'm keeping an eye out for youtube vid of it... Sounds like complete shit... Nothing ruins a fight more than one fighter rocking another, and the ref finding a reason to break the fighters up and not allow the fighter to take advantage of the situation.... Fucken sucks... I can think of a few fights where fighters have been truley in trouble, and the referee has picked out some ridiculous thing to stop the onslaught of punches, and literally single handedly save a fighter from get KO'd....
Refs need to pick their moments better... Hatton needs to learn how to tie his fucking shoes!
Re: Hatton vs Lazcano: 10Th RD
He was standing in the corner waiting for the Ref to turn his direction and Ricky held up his shoe at ref...almost asking for his wittle shoe to be tied.......aww :embarassed: how cute........worked the ref
Re: Hatton vs Lazcano: 10Th RD
Hatton was okay by that time IMO. I was actually a bit confused when Hatton initially started waving his foot around. I thought "what on earth is this malarkey all about?". I distinctly said that in a Pete and Dud voice which my thinking voice sometimes takes the form of. I thought "Bloody 'ell. What's all this then, young Ricky Hatton". And then I realised he needed his laces tieing up. Bless him, he couldnt have done it himself with those big gloves on. Would have been nigh on impossible. Would have been all over the place, he would.
Never seen that in a boxing match actually.
Re: Hatton vs Lazcano: 10Th RD
Miles I know Hatton did better than everyone is putting on, but you are a right proper Hatton nut.

I think it depends what sort of commentary you're listening to. If the commentator on your broadcast is telling you he's hurt then you're going to believe it.
Personally from being at the fight, he didn't look even slightly in trouble. From rewatching the fight again with the commentary on, it seemed like he was wobbled but had recovered by the time the ref called the break. I rewatched the round without any noise and he looked perfectly fine. Seen him take shots like that on many occassions.
Personally think he was more hurt in the 8th, even though i still cant decide what hurt him.

Alright boys, I'll be the first guy to say it to Ono.
"Your blind dude." :)
Re: Hatton vs Lazcano: 10Th RD
Wasnt a moment to get overly concerned about.
hatton was hit by a very good puncher on endless occasions during that contest.
No surprise to see him wobbled once or twice, Only seen the fight in real time and was fairly KO`d on alcohol as was most of the stand i was in...
But it seemed from that moment onwards hatton almost seemed to get a second wind - perhaps he lulled lazcano into a false sense of security??
Re: Hatton vs Lazcano: 10Th RD
i doubt hatton would have been KOd or even dropped if the ref didnt do what he did but it looked to clearly be done due to the fact hatton appeared hurt
he was hit, staggered, and then struggled to clinch, which he was having trouble doing and getting hit in the process
it also seemed that initially the ref stopped it to warn lazcano, and then almost seemed to just go along with hatton choosing to stand in the corner

Re: Hatton vs Lazcano: 10Th RD
I was not impressed saturday night. Rickys defence was absolutely shit at times, no head movement whatsoever. This is a big problem because his punch resistance ain't a third of what it used to be (he was wobbled a few times and when he got tagged he just stood there to take more). He also does not look half as strong as he used to, he was getting forced back in clinches alot and could not out muscle Lazcano.
Imagine Saturdays version of Hatton againsed Tszyu?
I don't think it matters if Hatton never touches a drink or a pie ever again, he won't find his old form, I think the damage is done.

Hattons style has/will always leave him prone to taking heavy shots, he walked through much much worse against tszyu. Your suggesting that ricky doesnt know how to not get hit anymore but he has never been a great exponent of not getting hit.
As for not looking half as strong - he was fighting a guy who had seen and done it all and traded with some of the best in the past.
It was your typical hatton graftmanlike win that went the distance due to lazcano having a solid rearguard and a very good chin to boot.
Still 118-110, 120-108 is about as comfortable a win as youre going to get at this level!!!

Maybe your just underestimating Lazcano's power remember even if he isn't at his best weight class, he is still a good puncher.
