quick question regarding tsyzu
well basically just having a quick check through boxrec and i noticed miguel cottos bout with lovermore n'dou in 2004 was billed as an ibf title illiminator, does anyone know how come a fight with tsyzu never came about and why it turned out to be ricky hatton who got the shot at him instead
and also if the fight had happened how do people see it turning out ?
i personally think cotto was a little green than and would have been stopped in the middle rounds
Re: quick question regarding tsyzu
Maybe Cotto was focused on defending his WBO title and wanted to establish himself a little more first. Like you said he wasnt ready for Kostya then. Still would have liked to see him vs. Hatton befor he moved to Welter.
Re: quick question regarding tsyzu
Cotto at 140 would of been stopped by Tszyu at that point in there careers, like you said Cotto was too green at that point plus his punch resistance wasn't as good at 140. But Cotto might of lost to Tszyu at any point in his career, the people who gave Tszyu problems were swarmer's like Phillips, Hatton. Even though Cotto has an aggressive style he isn't swarmer like those fighters, he picks his shots more from mid distance. Now this would give Tszyu a chance to land his best shots, because Tszyu does his best work at mid range. Thats why he lost against Phillips, Hatton, because those guys never give Tszyu room to punch.

i agree would of perphaps been a few fights too soon for cotto who would of had to go on all out assault to beat tszyu who probably would of been wily enough to choose his assaults well and pick up a points win.
As for why they never met - probably down to tszyu being more established yet cotto holding a bigger title. Quite easy for cottos people to avoid tszyu and vice versa.

oh i remember the ndou fight and i also remember thinking if it was a 15 rounder Cotto might have suffered his first loss... didnt they take there foot off tha gas with cotto a bit after that fight.... CBA to check but i think they did.
and i guess that is why we didnt see him in with KT

Bigger title? You think the WBO title is bigger than the IBF? Cant say I agree. I think your reasoning is right on though.

Cotto was pressured very well by Ndou, Cotto was forced on the back foot the entire fight, Cotto was even looking at the clock near the end of the fight so it was obvious he just wanted the fight to end ASAP. But i did like Cotto's combinations at the end to finish himself off.
Re: quick question regarding tsyzu
Tszyu in 2004 was also unsure how his career would continue, he had shoulder surgery keeping him out of the ring for nearly two years and was definitely going to make up for lost time by accepting the huge payday for the Hatton fight, If he had beaten Hatton, then PBF would have been next. Cotto was not yet the established star that Hatton was in his native UK.
Re: quick question regarding tsyzu
Mayweather foguht Gattiad then moved up to welter and challenge the great Zab and Baldimor, why would he waste time with someone as poor as Tszyu :)
