Taylor vs Lacy this fall?!!!
This was just posted in Dan Rafael's chat. He's says there is more info in his notebook that will get posted later. I'll get more info then.
Chris (Kalamazoo, MI): What's up with Jermain Taylor? Anything serious in the works or is he letting his face, ego, and pride heal after the two loses to Kelly?
http://assets.espn.go.com/i/sn2.gif Dan Rafael: (12:23 PM ET ) Here's a small preview of today's notebook: There are talks between DiBella and Golden Boy going on for a fall fight between Jermain and Jeff Lacy, his former Olympic teammate.
Re: Taylor vs Lacy this fall?!!!
Interesting choice! Good work as every Diane. Keep us posted!
Re: Taylor vs Lacy this fall?!!!
I'd take Taylor over Lacy anyday of the week. Lacy will make Taylor look damn good.
Re: Taylor vs Lacy this fall?!!!
I think it is a wise choice for his first bout into the division. A fighter he knows he can outbox but then again will test his chin. At least he is not fighting Peter Manfredo who seems to be everyones whipping boy.
Re: Taylor vs Lacy this fall?!!!
Hopefully this fight happens. I'd pick Taylor.

yeah should be the outcome alright, but I always feel we haven't seen Lacy near his best, there was alot expected of him and the Calzaghe fight came way to soon. If he could get his confidence back I could see him causing Taylor a few problems, most likely Taylor ud though.
Re: Taylor vs Lacy this fall?!!!
Lacy has looked terrible since the Calzaghe beating.Taylor out boxes him for a UD.
Re: Taylor vs Lacy this fall?!!!
LAcy was hurt by Manfredo, so i'm guessing he'll get stopped by Taylor. It seems that Calzaghe took all of Lacy's will and mojo.

What I want to see from Taylor is that beautiful active jab he has, haven't seen it much in his recent fights, if he does that it should be a relatively easy night for him.

Manfredo thrashing never get old.
Re: Taylor vs Lacy this fall?!!!
Okay here is the rest of the scoop, plus plenty of other boxing info.
ESPN - Notebook: Williams seeking redemption - Boxing
• The opponents discussed for former middleweight champ Jermain Taylor's fall fight have ranged from Felix Trinidad to Ricardo Mayorga to Brian Vera of "The Contender." Now add ex-super middleweight titlist Jeff Lacy -- Taylor's 2000 U.S. Olympic teammate -- to the mix. "We've made them an offer," Taylor promoter Lou DiBella told ESPN.com. "They have not accepted yet, so we'll see." Golden Boy's David Itskowitch added, "We're negotiating the fight. Lou made an offer, and we're fine-tuning it, but it's a fight we're interested in." Whether it happens or not, Lacy plans to fight in July. Golden Boy is talking to ESPN2 about a date.
Re: Taylor vs Lacy this fall?!!!
Oh man I do not know how I feel about this. Lacy is my favorite fighter, been a fan for a long time and I always wanted these two to meet when they were champions but I'm not sure now. Problem is I like both guys I fear the loser would just be completely written off.
Well Lacy needs the win more obviously. I just worry about how sluggish he looked against Manfredo. He's never looked like that ever. Obviously if he comes out looking like that again then he's got no chance or at least you would think. But if he could get some of that quickness back, put punches together and effectively pressure Taylor then I would give him a good shot at winning.

Amat we are the only true blue Lacy fans that still back him and all I can say is NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lacy needs a good tune up fight to follow up the challenging fight with Manfredo, for the above reasons you already mentioned. Loss of Quickness and sluggishness... I am willing to right that off to ring rust inactivity and mentally held back from pushing his injured shoulder. But I dont want to be wrong and have him get taken apart by Taylor
My heart is sunk with the thought of this fight:-\
Re: Taylor vs Lacy this fall?!!!
Well I would love that too but as it stands right now, the loss to Calzaghe was 2 years ago on March 4 I believe. So far he's been in the ring twice. I would love a tune up fight or two against bums but he's not getting that for some reason. Don't know who's fault is. Maybe Golden Boy because they have no small shows, just HBO shows basically. But that's been the case so if this gets made, a Tarver fight, or any other fight against a good opponent you have to just trust that he works that rust off in camp :-\
He's not a bad fighter, I'm a fan of his style but he has skills he was a top amateur. He's not some unskilled brawler, I'm not sure the talent gap between Taylor and Lacy is nearly as big as people think. It's an interesting fight but like you I'm not sure how much I want it made. To think that if Judah's dumb ass didn't go through glass we wouldn't even have to be talking about this.
