What Is Grady Brewer Doing?
I forgive you in advance for not clicking on this thread.
But really, I mean so many of these Contender guys have found themselves with several TV dates after the show and this is a guy who won. He wasn't as bad as his record either, he was a tough guy before he ever went on the show he gave Sechew Powell hell and even knocked him down I think. On the ropes if I remember right. A guy who never seemed to be an easy out, seemed like a good guy on the show and then went and won it. I've seen Aaron Torres more then I've seen him since something isn't right there.
Anyone know? Not like he was a great fighter but definitely not a guy I ever had a problem watching even before the show.
Re: What Is Grady Brewer Doing?
I think he took the money and ran.
Maybe the smart thing to do, although he could doubtless make another few hundred thousand dollars in taking fights with Alfonso Gomez and then maybe Sergio Mora for an all Contender Champions 154 lb world title showdown.
Feel free to :puke: at that suggestion
Re: What Is Grady Brewer Doing?
I heard he had surgery on his shoulder and had a long recovery. Seems like that was awhile ago though.....
Re: What Is Grady Brewer Doing?
He has been plagued with injuries since winning. He recently was going to make a comeback but injured his knee which I believe also required surgical correction.
He continually states that he will be back in the ring and has no thoughts at all of retirement.

Re: What Is Grady Brewer Doing?
was looking at his record, and most of the big names are losses lol
Kelly Pavlik (was only 8-0 and got ko'd in the 2nd)
Jermain Taylor
Peter Manfredo Jr. o_O
Carlos Bojorquez
Jose Luis Zertuche
Sechew Powell
Marco Antonio Rubio
biggest win, a sloppy victory over Steve Forbes, that too me wasn't clear at all
Re: What Is Grady Brewer Doing?
Here's an interview with Grady that I recently read, and he talks about everything that has gone on, and what he is looking forward to.

Re: What Is Grady Brewer Doing?
Remember people when I told you about another UK v USA contender challenge Sports Network are working on this year. ? It could be coming to Liverpool with Smith as the captain. I heard from someone that there is a strong possibility he would appear on that

Rafael's remark: This surely wasn't the encore Brewer, 37, had in mind after outpointing Steve Forbes to win the second season finale of "The Contender." That fight took place Sept. 26, 2006, and this was Brewer's first fight since. The reason is because Brewer has been sidelined for the past two years by a serious knee injury. But he persevered through his rehabilitation to finally make it back to the ring in his hometown, where he took care of business against journeyman Wooten, who lost his seventh in a row. Let's cut Brewer some slack on the opponent after such a long layoff and a tough injury. It was Brewer's fifth win in a row since an eighth-round TKO loss to Marco Antonio Rubio in May 2005. Hopefully, Brewer can work his way back into shape and eventually capitalize on his "Contender" crown by landing a good money fight.
