Video of Valero's last fight
Was on Thursday I guess?
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5rf91_ed...himada-r1_sport
I've only watched the stoppage, looked like Valero, slow, bit clumsy, strong.
The link goes to the first four rounds but you should see just to the right the link to the rest of it.
Re: Video of Valero's last fight
I love the way those commentators pronouce his name..."VARERO" ;D
But yeah. Valero always fights that way. He's more of a stalker fighter, that's why he look slow. He satisfied with that 1-2 punch with no head movements and poor lateral footwork. But it always works for him though. A good opponent (elite) would easily take advantage of that flaw.
Re: Video of Valero's last fight
Shimada is the super featherweight version on John Ruiz. Valero's style makes me think of a fencer, I really want to see someone that can challenge him tactically, like say Guzman.
Re: Video of Valero's last fight
I know that I'll catch an assload of flack for this...but I aint sold on Valero.
Yes he has great power...
Yes...he's exciting...
That is if you like that raw anything can happen style of boxer...
But...in the end...Valero has'nt fought any upper level opposition. He's fought a couple or three gooduns ;D but not any skilled boxers.
Let him beat someone like the Guz, Marquez, or Soto...someone that boxes with fluidity, confidence, & skill...then I'll get on the bus...until then...he's just where he needs to be.

Vincente Mosquera was a very good underrated fighter. The fact that Valero went into his back yard in Panama and took his title was pretty impressive.
Re: Video of Valero's last fight
As i said in El Gamo's thread Valero is the new De Leon, very limited skills wise but he has amazing power that makes up for his lack of skill. But he will be exposed soon in fact i think a good boxer like Guzman embarrasses him.
Re: Video of Valero's last fight
Velero reminds me of Khosai Galaxy , a merciless walk in slugger , limited head movement , KO power , and brute strength.
He is exciting but id like to see him fight one of the other champs.

I think Guzman would totally outclass him honestly, I dont even see a competitive fight there. There isn't really any depth at 130 with everyone moving up so it's hard for me to think of someone who would test Valero in the near future... I think Humberto Soto would be a perfect test and a pick em fight, but any big fight with Valero involved is going to be hard to make as it can't happen in the States.

Not really sold either. Mosquera win is not a bad one but a guy that's a little slicker and/or sturdier than Mosquera should be able to outbox him. I don't enjoy watching him fight either, I don't think that taints my judgment of him but who knows.

Good call on Soto.

pretty much sums up the fight here... i would add "lethargic"
Re: Video of Valero's last fight
Valero fights his first B+ to A- level figther we'll see what he's really got.
Re: Video of Valero's last fight
I know that Valero supposedly looked like some monster in some sparring videos but really at some point I have to see it in the ring and I still don't. He hits hard, great.
Re: Video of Valero's last fight
Yeah I mean when he spars he looks like Erik Morales but comes in the ring a completely different fighter, so yeah. I've cooled considerably on him. I still like watching the Mosquera fight, maybe for no other reason then the girls in the ring beforehand.
He's campaigning at lightweight now to move with the rest of the field. I would still love to see him fight Pacquiao I think that's a great fight. Was hoping he would be Pac's Macau opponent but I guess that whole plan has been nixed.
Haven't watched this video yet, maybe I will, maybe I won't. Probably will but no promises here. Don't know who he plans on fighting and when but maybe when he actually lines up somebody significant then I will watch the video.
I agree with VD though that Mosquera was underrated and to beat him in his backyard was something. If nothing else Valero is a talking point which is never bad. What's with the way he dresses though? He dresses like he's going out to the disco.
